Just Friends - Prologue
She likes him, the older guy. They have been friends for years. He's interested in someone else.
"Hello, little girl,"
"Who, who are you?" The young girl asked into the darkness.
"Me? I'm just someone who you will soon know very well," the man replied to the girl who could not see him.
"What, what d-d-do you m-m-mean?" The girl stuttered.
"This is what I mean!" The man shouted into the darkness, as he grabbed her and pulled a blindfold over her eyes.
She blacked out then from fear.
"And cut! That's a wrap!" The director shouted to his actors, as light flooded the set.
"Wow, Darren, you actually had me really scared that time! I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to pull it off, but that voice just convinced me!" The girl, Molly, exclaimed to her fellow actor.
"I'm glad it worked. But we better get going now or you'll be late for school."
"Ha ha, late for school? I'm sure my tutor won't mind if I'm just a little late. And I was looking forward to going out for lunch with you again today!" Molly laughed out.
"Well I suppose we do have a little time before you need to get back..." Darren replied slowly.
The grin on her face said it all. She was in love with her friend, and he didn't even notice. Even though he was only a year older than her, to Darren, Molly was a little girl, just a friend.
Molly didn't care though, she was happy as long as she could spend time with him each day.
"Come on, Molly! Or you'll be late!" Darren said urgently.
"Okay, okay! I'm coming!" She said in a sing song voice.
They walked around the corner from the set where they were filming and into their favorite coffee shop. They walked straight to the back and into their favorite booth.
"So kids, what are you having today then?" The rather cute waitress, Amy, asked them.
"Hi Amy! Just the usual thanks," Darren replied slightly self-conscious of being called a 'kid'.
"Ok, then be back in a minute."
