Just a thought..

It’s funny and frustrating to discover that your friends believe you to be someone you are not. They have that image of you that they have seen only once, yet somehow it sticks with them for a number of years, thinking that that is the real you.

It is hurtful to know that they joke around about it, eyes filled with laughter and mouths filled with inconsiderate words, words that you will never understand why it brings them so much joy. They have a fixed idea of you, and won’t listen to any of your words that might contradict their own thoughts and opinions, not knowing that those very thoughts that they express so freely can be tearing you up inside.

That is the worst part, them not knowing, probably not even wanting to acknowledge that they are saying things that are hurting and frustrating you. I’m not trying to sound morbid and dramatic, just trying to say what, in a way, is really true. Just the fact that you think that they love you unconditionally is an example of how trusting you are, as most of the time it is a lie. For most people anyway.

You get those people who, at first, appear to be friends for life, only to be faded away less than a year later. Then you find those rare ones, a diamond among the rubble, a friend who stands by you through all the years, not caring about the petty fights or the occasional outburst.

Yes, it saddens one to really think about this and think back to certain situations, knowing that at least part of what is written here is true. How is it possible for people to know you when you hardly even know yourself? Is it true that those outside are better to judge and notice things about you that you cannot, or unconsciously choose not to know? The worst part is when those who look at you see only what they want to see and choose to know only what they want to know, not what is really there.
