Just A Day More

A sad poem...verses of a dying soldier longing to be with his love…
Lying on the ground
As I look around
Blood stains surround me
No one to hear my plea

I stretch my hands, but in vain
Tears roll, my heart bleeds in pain
In an unknown land, I don not wish to die
"God! Give me wings to fly"

Near the lake, behind the grove
In her little world, dwells my love
Black doe eyes fixed on the doorway
Waiting for me to return soon one day

Death would be easy, if it were in her arms
Kiss her last, before my soul would calm
Wish I were not slain
Want to live a day again
Hug her close and confess
"To love you, one birth seems very less"
