Jon & Kate Spend 10th Anniversary Apart
In what surely comes as no surprise to anyone who reads entertainment news, Jon and Kate Gosselin didn't spend their anniversary weekend together.
A young couple's demise isn't really too much fun to watch on television. Especially when there are eight young children involved, whose Truman-show-esque world is surely starting to seem oddly surreal to them. But the Jon & Kate Plus Eight drama continued to unfold to the delight of TLC and millions of viewers who are still hanging on - for some reason.
With the recent onslaught of media coverage surrounding the apparent split of the couple - and the rampant rumors of infidelity on both sides - we're now getting up-to-the-minute reports on the realities of a reality television show. All of it is enough to blow the mind, if you really stop to think about it.
With Friday having been the couple's official 10th Wedding Anniversary, it was clear to the cameras and media present that Kate was home alone with the kids for the weekend. Jon's whereabouts remain unknown and based on the fact that he celebrated Kate's birthday in Utah on a snowboarding trip, it's likely that he was off without much thought as to his anniversary.
As the couple's oldest children are now likely beginning to understand the craziness that is their lives, things are surely going to get far worse long before they ever get better. And that's assuming things will ever actually get better. Soon the kids will be old enough to have their own friends and lives outside of the home. What will happen when their friends' homes are surrounded by paparazzi and reporters trying to get them to say something controversial about one or both of their parents?
It's pretty obvious that this train wreck is only just now beginning to unfold. Three, five years down the line, we can only hope that the kids are able to have some sort of normalcy in their lives. It's a crazy life, but the kids have no choice in the matter.
