Jon Gosselin Threatening Production of Kate Plus 8
Now that TLC has decided to move forward without Jon Gosselin, he has demanded that the show cease production immediately, or face legal action.
This train wreck sure is lasting a long time. With TLC's recent announcement that the show would move to a new "Kate Plus 8" format starting with the next run of production, Jon Gosselin was effectively removed from the show. Of course, Jon's not too happy with this arrangement, as the show is his only source of fame and potential future earnings. It feels crazy just to write that.
Jon's attorneys have drafted documentation stating that Jon will call police if there are any film crews attempting to film on the property. Obviously, that will make production of the show rather difficult. Also, if reports are accurate, Jon has filed paperwork asking that the divorce proceedings be stalled for 90 days. It would seem that Jon's advisers are having a hard time trying to figure out the best approach to maintaining some revenue streams for Jon and a 90-day delay may have been the best available option for trying to sort things out.
As it stands, if the divorce goes through and Kate and the kids are still on TLC every week, Jon's probably headed for some problems trying to maintain any sort of faux-career in the entertainment industry. As soon as the show moves on without him, then he's just Jon Gosselin, "the guy that was once the husband and father of the people on that TLC show."
It will be hard to market him as such, and his handlers are certainly aware of that fact. There are only so many dead-end reality tv series to go around, and we're sure that Jon's going to try his hand at quite a few. But ultimately, the public's appetite for him - and his family - seems to be waning. All that despite the best efforts of the paparazzi and various tabloid outlets to keep them in our collective consciousness.
