Jon Gosselin Claims Kids are Happy with Show Shutdown
Kate Gosselin said that her kids were devastated after show production was halted, but Jon says that the kids are fine with the decision.
Despite the fact that Jon Gosselin has made himself look like a crazed idiot for the majority of the last year, he has a point when explaining the situation with regards to the halt in production of "Kate Plus 8". Jon explained to reporters, "You know why? Because when we told them we were going to get divorced, the 5-year old said, ‘What’s for lunch?’ The only two people who really cared with [9-year-old twins] Mady and Cara. Cara broke down and Mady said, ‘Oh, I saw this coming.’"
Anyone that's familiar with small children can understand his description of the scenario. It's highly unlikely that the kids really have too much concern one way or the other whether or not the show is going on. Certainly, they have developed relationships with some of the crew and they have grown accustomed to the routine. But every one of the children has seven siblings with whom they can cushion the blow of losing a handful of random adults and film equipment from their world.
But Kate is using the children as an effective chip in the PR game that surrounds the show. By claiming that the children are upset about the show stoppage, she can further push public sentiment against Jon. But to argue that somehow the children themselves are better off in their daily lives as a result of the filming of the show, that's just ridiculous.
The show is the family's source of income and it enables a lifestyle that would be otherwise unattainable for them. The threat of the end of the show is definitely the biggest bullet that either Jon or Kate can wield - and Jon pulled it out first.
