John Travolta Travels to Bahamas to Testify in Extortion Trial

Nearly ten months after the death of his son, John Travolta traveled to the Bahamas to testify in a trial that centers on a former senator and a former paramedic allegedly trying to extort money from the actor.
As any parent who has lost a child no doubt understands, the loss is not one that heals. In the wake of the death of John Travolta’s son Jett last January, a barrage of unusual facts came out about that night, all of which have led to Travolta traveling back to the Bahamas, where his son died, to testify in an extortion trial. Though it has been over 9 months sine that fateful evening, Travolta is no doubt hurting at the memory of that night. Testifying yesterday, Travolta told the court of his attempts to resuscitate his son frantically.

Jett Travolta died at the Travoltas’ Bahamian vacation home, where the family was on a New Year’s vacation. His death certificate lists his cause of death as a seizure disorder and now, one of the paramedics on the scene that night is on trial, along with former Bahamas Senator Pleasant Bridgewater, for allegedly attempting to extort $25 million from Travolta. The paramedic, Tarino Lightborne, and Bridgewater allegedly told Travolta at one point that that they would release potentially damaging statements if they were not paid the large sum.

Not much came out in the first day of the trial, which largely consisted of Travolta recounting the details of his New Year’s vacation and the night in question. Travolta was accompanied by his wife, Kelly Preston and noted in his testimony that his son suffered from a seizure disorder that result in him having a seizure every five to ten days, with each seizure lasting roughly one minute. Travolta further noted that he was awakened on the morning of January 2 by Jett’s nanny Eli Wheaton. Said Travolta, "I saw him on the bathroom floor. Jeff Kathrein, his other nanny, and a woman from Old Bahama Bay were doing CPR."
