The basic strategy of helping an autistic person is simple and is a 5-fold process, diagnose, recognize, develop, help, rehabilitate. Autism is often difficult to diagnose but once it is realized that a person is suffering from autism, then the 5 fold process starts. The initial diagnosis is quite short and the exact problems associated with the spectrum are pin pointed. Secondly, the practical problems and some symptoms are recognized and studied. Thirdly a treatment, therapy and strategy to help the person is devised. The next step is of course the actual implementation of the strategy. The help stage is then completely phased out into the stage where the patient is completely rehabilitated, and made self-sufficient.

• Physicians and Pediatricians are also required in the process as there are several different medical issues which tend to come into picture, especially of the autistic individual has a symptom of self harm.
• Psychiatrists are also often required in cases as psychiatric medications are also often required to curb down some painful symptoms.
