These days most of the jobseekers are looking for international job opportunities. Globalisation has exposed India as a pool of skilled talent and therefore there are many employers both big and small looking for Indian talent to work for them.

Besides Information Technology, which has emerged as the niche area of international employment, there are other skills that are in hot demand. Mechanical Engineering- especially Design Engineering and Project Execution, Electrical Engineering both Projects and maintenance, Accountants, ERP Consultants, Sales and Marketing professionals are now being recruited by international employers.

To be able to get good opportunities in international employment field, one has to equip oneself with certain pre- requisites as listed below.

Good Academic Record: International employers are looking for bright candidates with a good academic record. A score of 70% plus in Graduation would always stand a very good chance as against an average candidate. This again is dependent on the Institution of study. Candidates who have passed out of reputed Institution stand a better chance. Most of the employers look for candidates who have come out of IITs, RECs and such reputed institutions.

Masters Degree : Most countries are today facing the problems of unemployment and have restricted engaging candidates from other countries. However, experience has shown that Masters Degree holders have been successful in getting Work permits / Employment Visas.

Experience : A minimum 2 to 3 years experience in the relevant field is a must. There are very few vacancies for Fresh candidates in international job market.

Good Communication skills: The most important requisite for international jobs is the ability to communicate. Fluent communication skills in English is a hard core requirement. Urban candidates are at an advantage because most of them study in English medium and speak English regularly and as matter of routine. Those who come from rural areas would help themselves by developing reading habits and improving their vocabulary. Watching English programmes on TV channels ( Especially CNN, CNBC, BBC etc) and English films would be helpful in following different accents.

Foreign Language Skills : International employment is also available for people with Language proficiency. Skills in German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese would be helpful. The language skills are necessary to understand the client / customer requirement.
