There are certain holidays when work is not permitted or should be avoided. These holidays are Purim, Passover, Shavuot, Tisha B'Av, Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, and Simchat Torah. During Hanukkah, you are allowed to work but not during Shabbat.
