Jessica Simpson & John Mayer’s Thanksgiving Date

Just one year after it was announced that Simpson and ex-hubby Nick Lachey called it quits it seems as if she is ready to move on. It has been rumored that Simpson and Mayer have been seeing one another even though both sides have denied the rumors. The two were spotted looking more than friendly for an hour-long lunch at Paradise Cove Beach Café in Malibu, California earlier this month. A source said, "She didn’t eat much. She drank double vodka cranberries. When they got up, Jessica was rubbing his back. You could definitely tell they were on a date."

Now it has been reported that Simpson and Mayer are traveling with her family to their home in Texas to spend Thanksgiving together. As far as their relationship goes the two are reportedly taking it one day at a time. Said a source close to Simpson; "She’s taking her time with it." The source also said that they are "enjoying each other’s company and seeing how things go. There is no title to their relationship." A friend of Mayer’s said, "It’s a flirtation. I wouldn’t call it full on dating, but there is a fondness. He doesn’t like the attention, but he likes her. He wants to avoid the public scrutiny of last time."

Simpson and Mayer were rumored to be dating in early September, but it was never clear if their "romance" was just a publicity stunt. Simpson appeared on the cover of People magazine under the heading that read "I’m in Love!" A few days later she was on the cover of US Weekly under the headline "Dumped!" There was a rumor that her publicist exaggerated the romance to help promote her new album. Mayer reportedly labeled the move "desperate" and "an attempt for her to stay in the spotlight." Seems the two have patched things up and moved on.
