Jess/ica Chapter 1 of 11

Jess/ica is a story about two lovers constantly being separated by life, yet destiny thrives even if the hearts deny.
I can say I’m ready. The music is thumping in my eardrums. I am going to open the door…

"Happy 17th Birthday Jessica!" was what greeted me, besides the loud RnB music thrashing from the speakers, and the party people all over the dance floor swaying their souls out. This is not my kind of party.

"Were you surprised?" Loise asked me, handing me a drink.
"Totally." I sarcastically replied, rolling my eyes.
"C’mon, you’re seventeen and you still haven’t drink any single liquor?" she giggled and forced me to grab the Tequila.
"You know about my condition…" I shook my head and she gave a grumble. We both laughed.

I noticed Loise signaled something to Mr. DJ and in a few seconds, the music stopped. She climb up the stage and grabbed the microphone, no way, she’s into something humiliating! She tapped the mic and everyone stopped from what they were doing…this is really weird.

"Psst. Stop it!" I whispered to her, but she acted as though she didn’t hear me.
"Okay everyone, she’s here!" It kept on echoing in my ear.

A happy birthday song reined the bar and everyone is singing, even those party crashers were signing with Loise. Alright, I was touched with her ‘act’ but what I hated was the VENUE.

"Enjoy yourself, birthday girl. I gotta dance!"

I know she’s half drunk or what. That’s why I don’t drink, I’m wild when I’m high in alcohol and my heart problem stops me from enjoying my life. I made my way through those drunk and fanatical people towards the bar.

"Happy Birthday." Someone greeted me, with a masculine voice.

"Haha thanks." I replied. I’m pretty not at ease with strangers especially if the place isn’t my comfort zone. I can feel my lips give a frown instead of a small smile. It has forsaken me.

"Aren’t you happy? You have a great party here. Loise arranged it. " He opened a new topic again. Please how could I say ‘Will you shut up?’

"Not my kind of party. I see you know Loise." He picked up my interest, pretty good.
"She’s my sister. Jess, by the way." He retorted, gesturing for a handshake.
"Jess-" he cut me off.
"Jessica, I know." He gave me a manly yet gentle grip.
"Jessica, join us!" It was Loise, calling me.
"I gotta go." He replied by handing me a drink-water on rocks-with a sticky note saying ‘Smile! :)’

Does he know? For the first time that night, I felt the ends of my lips curved into a smile. Now, I experienced some kind of comfort with someone I talked to just a few minutes ago. My heart skipped a beat.

The night was fantastic, though my heart ached-literally ached. Jess and I talked more and enjoyed watching Loise go wild and danced like there’s no tomorrow. I even took a video of it, she won’t know until it’s in YouTube. I’m so evil. Insert my devilish laugh here. Loise’s driver, Mr. Dawn, drove me home by 2:30 am. I wasn’t sleepy yet so I grabbed my doodle notebook and started drawing Jess.
