Jessica Biel Laments Her Good Looks, Lack of Movie Roles

It’s not that Jessica Biel doesn’t like the way she looks, or hates her life or anything like that. It’s just that she thinks that they way she looks is making it hard for her to land movie roles. Asked specifically if she felt that her good looks were making it hard for her to jumpstart her lagging acting careers, Biel noted, "Yeah, it really is a problem. I have to be blunt." Biel, in an interview with "Allure" magazine, went on to say, "I’m in there with everybody else, fighting for the good parts. Yes, The Illusionist has made a difference – but a huge, massive difference, so I can pick and choose what I want? No."

Biel, whose most recent movie, Powder Blue, is, alas, evoking the three words that no actor or actress wants to hear, that is – "straight to DVD." Biel plays a stripper in the film, offering some evidence that the types of roles she’s seen as appropriate for just aren’t the type that most are really hungering for. Biel admitted in her recent interview that she longs for a career path similar to that of Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman.

Said Biel, I just want an opportunity. If you don’t like the audition, don’t hire me! But if you don’t want to even see me, that’s hurtful. And why? You know nothing about me!" Switching topics, Biel also talked about dating Justin Timberlake, as well as the attention that surrounds the celebrity couple. Said the 27-year-old actress, "I mean, you love who you love! It’s not like you meet somebody one day and say, ‘OK, I’m not going to put up with his fame!’ or ‘Yes, I am going to put up with his celebrity.’ You can’t choose that. It just happens to you."
