Jesse's Story - Part Two
Part Two.
I stayed up, until about 2 am, thinking about what I'm going to do when I have to face Troy. I hoped that Taylor was ok, Troy doesn't usually bother her; Just me.
The next morning I got up and had a quick shower trying carefully not to use my arm. Luckily I kept extra clothes at Shay's; for nights like these.
I put on dark blue skinny jeans with a black tank top and a red leather jacket.
Shay (as usual) wore bright-colored clothes; Neon yellow jeans with a neon green shirt, and lots of bling.
Christie drove us to school, packing about 6 extra chocolate-chip cookies for each of us, along with $20 each. Did I mention Christie was the best mom ever?
"Thanks Christie!" I said closing the door behind me.
"You're welcome, Hun!" She called out the window as she turned out of the parking lot trying to get out of a buses way.
"I swear my mom's trying to fatten me up for something" Shay whispered under her breath shoving the cookies and money in her purse.
I laughed and poked her ribs, "Maybe it's 'cuz you're so skinny"
Shay gave me her look, the one that says 'I -don't -care -what -you think- '
She looked down at her stomach, blowing out all the air she had left. Shay smiled when she had a little bump. I rolled my eyes, "Now you just look pregnant"
Shay glared at me and walked away, heels clacking against the concrete.
"I'll talk you later, when you're not full of insults!" She said without looking behind her.
I laughed and walked through the doors into the school.
Several people asked if I were ok, and what happened on my way to class it was getting really annoying.
I walked into the science class and seen Sam, Tony and Trey were all sitting on their desks talking in a little group with some other kids who I haven't bothered to remember their names.
I walked over silently dropping my bags at my desk and walked over to stand beside Trey.
Sam looked concerned but barley even looking at me, Trey didn't even relies I was standing next to him. The only one who actually saw me was the geek of the class who sat right up front, he looked at me with a weird face but I turned away before he could say anything.
"So what's everyone up to?" I asked, breaking the silence that started as soon as I walked in the class.
Sam shrugged, "Not much, just waiting for school to end"
I nodded slowly, "Yea, first block can make you feel that way, eh?" I said sarcastically, hoping Sam would play along like he always did.
A slight smile washed over his face, but quickly faded when I smiled back.
I frowned, "Ok, what the hell is going on?" I demanded.
"Nothing" Sam said quietly.
"Bullshit" I said harshly.
I turned to walk away, slinging my bag over my shoulder, "Class so isn't worth it today" I said to the teacher as we passed through the door.
They know.
I stopped two steps away from the door and turned to face the teacher who was looking at me, brows furrowed.
"What did you say?" I asked warily.
The teacher shook his head, "Nothing...?"
I shook my head, as if to get the words I heard to fall out.
"Is there something wrong, Jesse?" He asked putting his bag and coffee down.
"No, don't touch me" I said pushing his hand away as he reached out to me.
I passed him and walked over to Sam, grabbing onto his arm and dragged him outside the class.
"What the hell is your problem?" I asked again, trying to keep my anger under control.
He shook his head, "Forget about it"
"No!" I shouted, "Tell me!"
He looked around the empty hall, and took my arm pulling me farther down the hall.
"We know what's going on between you and your dad" He said quietly.
My heart stopped, "what?"
"Don't even try lying about it, we all know"
"Wait, how?" I asked, my whole body felt numb, I leaned against a locker to help support me.
They're going to call the cops, Jesse. Do something.
"The team was thinking about what happened yesterday, we knew you couldn't have sprained your arm by shooting so we did a little digging. We also overheard the counselors talking about your 'relationship' with your dad, they said it wasn't good and you've been coming to school with bruises and everything..." Sam explained, the words went through one ear and came out the other. I couldn't even register.
"No, there's nothing g-g-going on. Were all fine..."
"Jesse? Jesse..."
I opened my eyes and shot up, "Where am I?" I asked while looking around.
"What the hell is this!?" I cried, as I looked around, I saw Troy.
I moved as far away as the wall would let me.
"Jesse it is ok, your teacher said you fainted" Troy said, his voice was calming but still had an angry edge to it. I knew what I was in for when I got home.
I shook my head, my shoulder was in so much pain, but if I wasn't so confused I would've been focusing on screaming.
"Where's, Taylor?" I asked scanning the room again but it was just me and Troy.
I was sitting on a small couch, like what Therapists' clients would lie on.
Troy was sitting on the other side of the room in a desk chair smiling at me.
"She's in class. We don't need to worry about her right now. Just you."
My heartbeat was echoing through my ears, it felt like I just finished running a 10k.
"C'mon, we better get you home to bed" Troy said as he stood.
He walked over to the door and opened it waving me over.
I got up off the bed and walked over to the door slowly.
I knew why he was acting so nice, the principle and vice principle were standing outside the door along with the counselor.
Troy smiled at them and shook their hands, "Thanks for your time, Officer Jones" He said.
I looked over to where Troy was standing; he was smiling at a Cop. The frickin cop was smiling back!
I bit down on my lip to stop from crying out.
Just stay where you are, Say you'd like to stay at school.
I shook my head, tears stung my eyes.
I turned and sprinted down the hallway, lingering students stopped their conversations to stare at me as I ran, I seen the back entrance and ran faster. Almost there...
Something wrapped around my waist and pulled me away from the door.
"No!" I screamed, I started kicking and thrashing around, "Stop! Let go of me!" I screamed again.
I fell to the ground (more like I was pushed), I kept kicking and thrashing; Ribs on fire and my arm was numb with pain.
I saw the cop leaning over me he grabbed my arms and pinned them to my sides, I screamed again as my shoulder twisted.
"Stop!" The cop demanded.
"No, don't let him take me!" I cried. I shut my mouth as soon as I said it, way to go kid. You blew it.
The voice was getting annoying at this point.
Troy's face came into view. Angry, twisted, disgusted.
I screamed again and started kicking with my legs, and then someone grabbed my ankles holding them the ground.
"We can't keep her still!" Someone shouted, as I struggled against their grip.
I heard footsteps running towards us, getting louder and louder, and then they stopped.
"This should help" a new voice said.
A sharp point pricked me on my arm; it went numb.
I was shaking hard; I didn't know what was going on, I kept screaming hoping they would understand what Troy does.
I started to feel nocuous, my eyes went blurry and my body went limp.
The last thing I heard was Troy, "Alright, let's get her home"
I opened my eyes and shot up; it felt like I've done this before.
Troy was sitting on the other end of my bed; I was in my room, in my bed. Shit.
"What you pulled at school today was unacceptable," Troy said quietly.
Before I could say anything I was on the ground, laying face up staring at Troy, he wrapped his hands around my throat and squeezed. I couldn't breathe I started to feel light headed and dizzy.
"You brought this on yourself, Jesse" He said, his words sounded slurred, but I'm pretty sure I heard him right.
I reached up and tried to punch him in the face but I was too weak already, I started pinching his arms as hard as I could but he just squeezed tighter.
"JESSE!" Taylor's voice screeched.
"Get out of here!" Troy yelled.
He let go of my neck and ran over to Taylor.
I gasped and coughed, rolling over onto my stomach.
"Stop!" I gasped; Troy had his hands around Taylor almost like he was giving her a hug, but his muscles flexed and I heard a snap.
"Taylor!" I cried. She screamed and fell to the ground; I jumped up off the ground and ran over to her, pushing Troy into the wall. His fist shot out and hit me in the ribs where he threw the plate. Gasping for air he pulled the back of my jacket and I landed on the bed.
Taylor was crying. Troy was laughing.
"Do you honestly think you two deserve to live?" He asked, "How many times do I have to knock you guys around before you understand!?"
My eyes stung but no tears came, anger and hate flashed over my face as a stood up off the bed, Troy turned to face me, both hands in fists.
He swung hitting me in the face. Hard.
I blacked out.
The next morning I got up and had a quick shower trying carefully not to use my arm. Luckily I kept extra clothes at Shay's; for nights like these.
