Jess Stands up Tony, Underwood Promises She Hasn’t Been Calling

Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson missed a romantic date so Jess could go sing with Elmo in New York, and Carrie Underwood has been backpedaling about her comments about continued involvement with Romo.
Jessica Simpson stood up boyfriend Tony Romo last Tuesday night after following through on a promise to fly to New York to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Macy’s by singing "Happy Birthday" with Elmo, the Sesame Street Character that stormed department stores in "tickle me" form several years ago. While the blond bombshell was late for the event after rain delayed her flight out of Nashville, her football-throwing beau was hoping she’d miss the event altogether, and planned a romantic date with Jess that the singer bailed on to make the event. Said Simpson, "Tony was just praying. He had planned a really romantic date in case I didn’t make it tonight."

Meanwhile, the couple seems to be doing quite well despite rumors that Carrie Underwood has somehow managed to arrive on the scene to come between the two. In an interview recently, Underwood noted that the Cowboys injured gunslinger still called her. The news apparently upset Jess quite a bit, but Underwood was quick to correct herself, leading us to wonder what’s REALLY going on in this love triangle.

Trying to set the record straight, Underwood noted in an interview with Elle that "I haven’t talked to him since, like, May. I might be mad too if somebody said my boyfriend was calling some other girl. So I can definitely see where [Jessica] would be coming from." In related news, there are also rumors swirling that Underwood has been dating Olympic swimming gold-medalist Michael Phelps, but the young singer shot down those rumors emphatically. "I swear on everything, on my job, on my house, my dog. It’s all just a lie."
