Jenna Bush Takes Job as Today Show Correspondent

After a strong interview on The Today Show a few years ago, producers have offered Jenna Bush Hager a part-time gig as a correspondent for the top-rated morning show.
Despite their generally liberal leanings and the general distaste that many people hold for George W. Bush, The Today Show has brought in Jenna Bush Hager, the former president's youngest daughter, as a correspondent for special reports. Jenna Bush is now 27 years old, married, and living in Baltimore, MD with her husband. She has been teaching in Baltimore for the last couple years and has authored three books, at least one of them with her Mom, Laura Bush.

Producers lured Jenna with the idea that she could report on issues close to her heart, such as education. "I hope to focus on what I'm passionate about because I think I'd do the best job on them - education, urban education, women and children's issues and literacy," said Hager (Bush).

Some question the motives of executive producer Jim Bell with this move, assuming that bringing Jenna onto the show may make it more likely that the former president will make himself available for an exclusive interview with the show - or the network. Former president George W. Bush has been lying low in Texas since leaving office earlier this year. With the media's love affair with Barack Obama still in full swing, he's probably wise not to be too visible at this point.

Of course, it wasn't that long ago, some time around late 2001, early 2002, when George W. Bush's approval ratings were through the roof and he was the media darling. Things change quickly for presidents in America, whether they are in office or not.
