Jaycee Dugard and Family Re-Forming Immediate Bond
Jayce Dugard and her daughters have assimilated very easily back into her mother's family and all seem to be doing very well.
Jaycee Dugard has a long road ahead of her, as do her daughters, when it comes to trying to establish a semblance of what could be considered a normal life. Dugard was held captive for 18 years and fathered two children by her kidnapper and captor, Phillip Garrido. She lived in one family for 11 years, was kidnapped into another family for 18 years, and is now back with the first family. During the journey she became a mother twice and is returning to a family that missed all of her growth and development during her 18 years in captivity.
Jaycee's younger sister Shana was just a baby when Jaycee was kidnapped outside of her Utah home. A family spokesperson told NBC's Today Show that Jaycee and her younger sister have formed an immediate connection and that she is adapting surprisingly well to her new surroundings.
She is on the cover of People Magazine this week and it was explained that she decided to share the pictures as a way of expressing her joy about being reunited with her family. Certainly, there were financial incentives as well, which will hopefully help to ease the burden of the physical and emotional transition into an entirely new - and hopefully better - way of life.
Phillip Garrido, a convicted sex offender, and his wife Nancy are currently in jail awaiting trial on charges of kidnapping and rape, among others. They have both pleaded not guilty, but it would appear that they will both be incarcerated for the majority of the remainder of their lives.
