It's the Wedding you want at the price you can afford!
Saving money on your special day isn't as hard as you might think. If you plan ahead and shop around you'll be sure to keep some of that moola in the bank for something else like a mortgage for a home, a holiday, or just planning for the future!
Here's a few tips put together that you can apply to your planning:
- Check out Bridal Shows and Expos in your area. This is a great way to see what's out there, without having to do too much looking yourself. Aisles of booths and you can't go wrong! As well, there's always a few contests that you can enter that just might save you money on a DJ or other wedding essentials!
- Look at online resources—the WWW is your oyster. There are many sites out in cyber world that are dedicated to "frugal" weddings. From invitations to party favours, the web has money saving tips and unique ideas that just might come in handy!
- Wholesale flowers (or even silk!). If you're finding your flowers are getting pricey, why not try buying them in bulk and creating your own centerpieces? Online retailers also offer great prices, but be sure to research and read reviews before making that gamble. Another option is to create centerpieces that don't include flowers at all! Rock gardens, candles, and lanterns are interesting (and cheaper) alternatives.
- No free kisses. Here’s an idea for the actual reception that’s gaining popularity! Rather than having your guests clink glasses when they want the pair of you to kiss, ask them for a donation instead! You'll be surprised how much they will donate to the lucky couple. Another idea is to take donations for dances with either the bride or groom. This allows you to talk to people you may not have had a chance to in the course of your busy day.
- Networking: Through friends and family you might be able to come up with more ideas. Ask around and see if they know people who could take care of photography, decorations, flowers, etc. (Preferably for a discounted price!)
- Budget, Budget, Budget: Make sure you create a wedding budget and STICK TO IT! Stand firm against mother’s who want to keep on spending on this and that. It's possible to save money on pretty much anything. Don't be afraid to take advice and research for a price that suits the two of you.
Best of luck planning and don’t forget to save a dollar or two for the future!
