It's Forbidden... So Why Do I Like Him? 3

Belle's used to giving everything up, people ask questions when you don't grow up. Another city... another first day... an interesting guy... finding out about her parent's past. So... Why does she like him?
~*Finding out about Declan...
True Graves-Thanks. Luckily, today was a snow day! So I get to post! It's been hard finding a pic of Declan, so I had to settle with the one in the next chapter.

Zorileidy-Sorry. That's just what it sounded like. I wasn't sure how to literally spell it.

Tavita K-Well, we have a lot of kids in our school, but only the weird guys wear skinny jeans. One guy wears his twin sister's jeans... so... weird for me.

Felicia-Thanks, Alumit is pretty cool.

If I were a bigger person, I probably would have gotten out of the car and demanded what the guy's--Declan's--problem was. But I was too shy and mousy, so I merely watched from a distance. Curious.

Declan edged toward the woods, strolling casually but cautiously at the same time, then took of running. I waited patiently, but he didn't come back. So weird.

I opened the door of the truck, Nickelback's "Into The Night" featuring Santana playing through my earphones. Something grabbed my shoulder from behind. My body automatically tensed up, ready for a fight, as I turned around to see who grabbed my shoulder. It was a girl, nineteen or so, with black, tinted-purple hair, and large purple eyes. She was wearing an orange-brown witch's hat with a red shirt, and a cape the same color of her hat. She had on jeans and boots. How did I not see this girl at school? Who could miss someone who dresses like that?

I took my earphones out, keeping the music on, and looked at her with a confused face. She smiled at me, showing off dimples. "Hi, I'm Sabrina Kingslei."

I gave her a confused smile in return. "Hi. Belle Evernight."

She giggled and nodded. "I know. I'm Mayu's daughter, we're sort of like cousins."

I nodded slowly. "Oh, I remember now. We used to spend the Summer over at Aunt Mayu's house when we were smaller. Me, Jeanie, and Alumit, then you and Jamie." Sabrina was actually adopted, Jamie was just a few months younger, a surprise pregnancy.

Sabrina nodded again, seeming happy I remembered her and didn't have to miserably explain details. "So, was that Alumit a little while ago? In the hallway?"

I chuckled. "Oh. You saw that? Yeah, that's the dork I have to call my brother."

She giggled. "He's a lot taller now. Must have grown since I last saw him. I towered over him when we were ten."

I grinned. "Well, it sucks since I'm so small, but he is pretty tall. Skinny jeans wearing freak."

We both laughed. Eventually we went quiet, having to wipe our eyes from tears. Sabrina cleared her throat. "So, that guy... you know him?"

I shrugged. "He glared at me like I'm some long-lost arch-enemy, but not really. His name is Declan Collins."

She nodded gravely, eyes wide. "I know that. Just... stay away from him, okay? He's..." She looked around and dropped her voice, lowering her head towards me. "He's a vampire hunter. A human one, I think. Nobody's ever been close enough to tell."

My eyes widened. "Seriously? A human? How does he know?"

She shrugged. "I dunno, but that's why he wears the hoodie. He has scars, like, all over his body. From vampires biting his and clawing and stuff. He can't heal like we can. But I hear that he's part of this hunting group, Black Fang, and they're going to take down the school. One vampire at a time."

I let out the breath I'd been holding. "Pretty... heavy. Intense."

She nodded, her face was still serious. "Yeah. Mom's been hearing this from lots of people. She's been thinking about transferring us out to a private school, you know, for us, but Dad's keeping an eye out for any trouble. He doesn't want to go to such extreme measures if it's only gossip."

"Don't blame him," I said shortly. I saw a white head in a black hoodie walking back in the school. Interesting. "Listen, you hear anything else, can you tell me? Cause Jeanie's been wanting to move in with us, but she's not so ready to be away from Mom and Dad. So I don't want her moving here if... you know..."

Sabrina nodded. "Sure. I got to get back to class, you can only say you went to your locker for so long." She started to walk away.

"Wait!" I yelled. She stopped and turned back to look at me. "Why were you out here anyway?"

She smiled. "Seeing if I could get any proof." She turned and walked back inside.
