Deficiency in vitamins A, B and C can strip the lips of its moisture which may cause dryness. So, having foods rich in vitamins is a must to decrease symptoms of itchy, dry lips. Eat green leafy vegetables, carrots, fruits (oranges), and whole grain breads daily, to overcome vitamin deficiency. Intake of vitamin supplements (tablets) as instructed by the doctor can also help in this regard.

Cucumber Slice: In order to reduce dryness of lips, rubbing a cucumber slice is a good option. Cucumber is high in water content, hence placing the slices on the lips for 2-3 minutes, works to revitalize this sensitive area.

Aloe Vera: When it comes to replenishing chapped lips, one simply cannot forget aloe vera gel. Water content in aloe vera gel is extremely high, which helps to soothe chapped lips. So, apply it for at least 3 times daily to revitalize the lips.

Lip Balm: Use of lip balms containing beeswax is also useful to rejuvenate the lips. However, stay away from flavored lip balms as they contain ingredients that can aggravate the condition. One can also use white petroleum jelly to soothe the sensitive area.

Vitamin E Ointment: Vitamin E is well-known for its antioxidant properties that help to maintain the lip's natural moisture levels. So, application of ointments that contain vitamin E as an active ingredient is often recommended to soften the lips. Lanolips lip ointment is one of the best ways to treat dryness of lips. It is loaded with natural oils and vitamin E that keep the lips well-hydrated.

Over exposure to sun and cold weather can also make the lips dry. Therefore, when traveling in scorching heat or cold conditions, make sure to add a protective layer to the lips in the form of petroleum jelly or lip balms.
