Italian Cappuccino

A typical breakfast in Italy is not complete without a cappuccino or an espresso. Here is an easy and basic recipe for the Italian cappuccino.

Ingredients
  • ¼ cup of finely ground espresso beans
  • 1 cup of fat-free milk
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • A dash of Cocoa/cinnamon
  • An Italian coffee maker
Method of Preparation
  1. Read the instructions in the coffee maker manual and put water in the machine accordingly.
  2. Now, add the finely ground espresso in the coffee maker and put it on medium heat until it comes out from the sprout (for 4-5 minutes).
  3. Now, steam the milk to make it frothy.
  4. Next add 1/3 cup of espresso in a cup, add the frothy milk and sugar according to your taste.
  5. Garnish with a dash of cocoa or cinnamon.
  6. Your hot Italian cappuccino is ready!
Italian Biscotti

Have you heard of the Italian biscotti? It is one of the best among all breakfast foods. It is a form of cookies favored in several other parts of the world outside Italy. The following is an easy recipe which will help you make biscotti at home.

Ingredients
  • 2 and ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
  • ¼ pounds of softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cups of sugar
  • ¾ cups of chopped toasted almonds
  • 1 and ½ teaspoons of baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
Method of Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter to make it creamy.
  3. Now, add sugar to it and beat it again to make it smooth and creamy.
  4. Next, beat the eggs one by one in the mixture. Mix well to form a smooth mixture.
  5. Sift the all-purpose flour, baking powder into the above mixture and beat till a homogeneous mixture is formed. Add salt and almonds and stir again.
  6. Make a smooth dough. Now, divide the dough in half and roll on a greased surface to form a 1-2 inches wide roll and place on baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
  8. Take them out of the oven and set to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  9. Now, cut these rolls diagonally into ½ inch slices and place them back on the baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 10 minutes. Flip over and bake for another 10 minutes.
  11. Your Italian biscotti is ready!
Breakfast Casserole

One of the many advantages of having a casserole for breakfast is that you can make many variations in its ingredients and come up with innovative ideas. This is also one of the best recipes to include leftovers!

Ingredients
  • 10 slices of bread (white or wheat)
  • 1 lb of cooked seasoned Italian sausage
  • 1 small can of mushrooms
  • 7 beaten eggs
  • ½ cup of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of light cream
  • ½ teaspoon of Worcestershire
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
Method of Preparation
  1. Mix eggs, milk, cream, Worcestershire, salt and pepper together to form a smooth mixture.
  2. Grease a pan of suitable size.
  3. Arrange layers of bread, mushrooms, cheese and cooked sausage.
  4. Pour the above mentioned smooth mixture.
  5. Refrigerate this mixture for 12 hours or overnight.
  6. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 40-45 minutes.
  7. Your breakfast casserole is ready! Serve hot!
Breakfast Pizza

Who doesn't like a pizza? The classic Italian pizzas are simply too good to resist. If you are thinking of having pizzas for breakfast, then the following is a recipe for making breakfast pizza.

Ingredients
  • 8 ounces of refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of shredded hash brown potatoes
  • 4 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper
Method of Preparation
  1. Firstly, you need to unroll the crescent dough flat and place on a greased pizza pan.
  2. Next you should press the seams together and press on the sides of pan. This will form the crust of your pizza.
  3. Now, in a bowl, whisk eggs and add milk to it. Also add pepper and salt to this mixture.
  4. In a frying pan, brown sausage. Place the sausage, hash brown and cheddar cheese on the pizza crust.
  5. Now, add the mixture of egg and milk over this. At the end, sprinkle Parmesan cheese and set the pizza to bake.
  6. The pizza should be baked at 375 degree F for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Once baked, let the pizza stand for 5 minutes.
  8. Your breakfast pizza is ready to eat!
