It Was You Along 8

At School

I waited for Lily to come over in the morning, she was late. Wei and June already left me to go to school. Mom and dad went to work already so I could stay a little longer without getting yelled at. It was seven and Lily wasn't here yet, I decided I would go over to her house. I grab my backpack and ran to her house. I knock on the door and auntie open the door, she told me Lily was still in bed. I went upstairs to her room to find her on the phone crying. Once she saw me she told the person on the other line that she call them back. Lily scooted over so I could sit with her on her bed.

She wipe her tears as I took off my backpack and set it on the floor. I sat on the bed with her, she didn't say anything yet but sniff. I didn't know what she was crying about but all I knew she needed a hug. I gave her a hug and she cried even more, I rub her back to sooth her.

She back from me and wipe her tears. "I'm sorry Mona."
"What's wrong?" I ask. Lily was still in her PJs and her hair was in a mess.
"I just miss Ryan." I hug her once again. Ryan was or is her boyfriend back in North Carolina. To tell the truth I envy her for having a wonderful boyfriend to love her so much.
"That was Ryan on the phone?" Lily nod. "So not going to come to school then?" She shook her head no and then wipe her tears again.
"Lily, I'm sorry for not telling you about what you want to know I was going to tell you today. But it looks like you're at a breaking point so I won't." I grab my back pack. "I'll come here right after school to talk ok? Love you, bye."

I was almost late for school, I would've been late if I went to my locker which I didn't. When I got to class Tom shook his head at me when he tell me running towards the door when the last bell rang. Mr. G was talking about this pie rape they found on YouTube, so I didn't arrive in a bad time. I grab my binder at the back of the room and sat in my seat next to Tom and Emma.
Once I sat down Tom through me a note on my desk. I look up to see if Mr. G was looking. He was still standing up the lights trying to figure out which lights he wanted to turn off. When he sat down behind him computer I open the note and read it.

Hey,

Thanks for dinner it was good. ANYWAY during lunch I want to show who Lexis is and then show you her boy-friend. I think he has your gym class and your art class.

I quickly wrote back to him and then toss the letter back at him.

You're welcome. How do you know I have gym and art class with this guy?

He replied and threw the note back at me.

I skip class during your hour and happen to see you and the loser.

"Mona, is there something you would like to share with the class?" I look up to see Mr. G staring right at me, and the whole class along with.
"Um, no I'm sorry." Mr. G went back to teaching and the I throw the note away once first hour was done.

Lunch was starting soon, I was in biology and was ready to leave in a hurry. Leng was sitting in front of my row and somewhere in me I knew he wanted to talk. But somewhere else told me I should talk with him.
The bell rang and I walk slowly behind Leng. When we were in the hall he walk me to my locker. We didn't say anything to each other, I wanted to apologize to him about yesterday but it looks like he forgave me long ago.
But I still wanted to apologize. "Leng, about yesterday I'm sorry for being so mean and-"

"Don't worry about it, it's ok." I smile to myself. "Why don't you come and watch us play football after school?" I open my locker to get my lang. art binder.
"Yeah, but I have something to do after school so I don't know when I could come." I close my locker.
"Well, just stop by if you can't stay long." I nod and we went our separate way.

At lunch Tom saved me a spot at his table. Everyone was eating already, I still had to get my lunch. Lacy, Tina, and Emma notice me and came to sit by me. Tom didn't mind, we at least that's what I thought. Emma was all over Tom the whole time so I decided that I go get my tray of lunch. When I came back Wei and Jason was over at Tom's table too. All of a sudden I felt like going back to my normal table, even if that meant sitting by myself.

Tom grab a chair for me and set it next to him. I ate silently, listening over everyone conversation. Tom nag my arm and pointed out Lexis and her boyfriend. Lexis was a blonde and very pretty, but she did look like those types that didn't care for anything else but fame and money. Fred, Lexis boyfriend yeah I know him and he does have my gym and art class. Lexis was getting ranch while Fred pick on her food. They look good with each other but you wouldn't want to mess with a couple like them, but what would do I know? I was going to mess with them.

"You know the plan?" I nod as I bite into my burger. "Become Fred friend, that's his name right? Fred?" I nod once again. "Then find out something bad about him in the past we can use against him." I nod.
I wasn't really listening to his ridiculous plan, there is no way I'm going through his profiles to look up his backgound. That's going to far, as to black mail him to break up with Lexis. Fred got up to get ketchup.
"This is your chance. You go up and act like you're getting ketchup and then I'll follow afterwards and slightly push you into him." I set down my burger and started nibbling on my fries.

I didn't know why, but I was actually excited for this."Ok."
I slowly walk towards the table with ketchup and other dipping. Trying to get at the table at the same time Fred did. As I was half way there Tom follow from behind. I grab a mini cup for the ketchup and waited for Fred to get his. Tom then slightly push me into Lexis, Fred drop his cup and caught me on both my arms.
"Oh, my bad." Tom said and left.
"Are you ok?" I look up to find Fred looking straight down at me in the eyes.
"Oh, um...yeah I'm ok." I said as I straighten myself up, hesitating.
Fred bent down to have a good look at me."Hey, your Mona right? From gym and art class?" He knew my name!

"Yeah, oh aren't you Fred?" I play along. Fred grab a new mini cup and press down on the ketchup to come out.
"Yeah. I'm sorry I didn't recognize you at first." He move aside so I could get ketchup.
"Yeah me too." I press down on the handle and there wasn't any left.
"When I first saw you I thought you were those smart mean girls that didn't care about anybody else but yourself." Fred took my mini cup and press down the handle for me. Ketchup came down.

"Funny, because when I first saw you I thought you were those cocky jocks who got away with anything." Fred laugh. He handed me my cup and then we started walking back together.
"Well, I guess we're both wrong then." Fred said. "Well, see you in gym then."
"Alright, bye." I said.
"Bye,"
As I got back to the table Emma was in my spot touching Tom. I sat in her spot, Tom look my way and made a face to come, sit by him. I shook my head and started talking to Lacy and Tina once I saw Emma put her hand on Tom thigh. Tom got up and pull a chair next to me from a table close by. He didn't even look at Emma when she was watching him move around with her eyes shot at him.

"What did he say?" The first thing he said when he sat down.
"Why don't you give Emma a chance? She likes you and you know it." Tom got up reach across the table and grab my tray of food, he set it in front of me and sat back down.
"She confess to me when we went to the movies, I told her I already had someone in mind." He said as he pick on my brownie cake. "So what did he say to you?"
"Well, his name is Fred, he's going out with the girl you so much love that you do anything. He said nothing besides he knew my name and that he thought I was a smart mean, selfish person, but he was wrong." I said finishing my burger.

"That's it, that's all he said," He sat back in his chair.
Everyone was looking at us now, even Wei now everyone is going to be thinking that were dating and then I'm going to be the one to tell them the truth. I got up to throw my garbage and then set my tray down with the rest. I went back to find Emma sitting in her regular spot looking down. Tom was also sitting in his regular spot. I sat down next to Tom and started reading.
"You better get your game up" Tom shout me a look.
"Oh, I will." Tom had a smirk on his face now.
