It Was You Along
Desperate for love Mona would do anything to just be hold and be loved, but when she chose the wrong decision she not only hurt herself but others too.
All my friends have a boyfriend and I don't. Everywhere we decide to go or to just hang out their boyfriend would come along. There always kissing, holding hands, they sometime do things as couples that I feel left out. I want a boyfriend and I want one now!
I'm at the library doing homework or you would say late homework. I'm supposed to research on Alexander the Great for history, but I'm rather sitting on a comfy leather chair reading the best Graphic Novel "Fall in Love like a comic" by Yagami Chitose. It's about a girl who writes love graphic novel, but she doesn't have a love life of her own. In the end she does have a love life and it's just like her any other love graphic novels. Just like how girls in reality wants their love life to be.
"Hey hurry up we have to get there before the girls does."
I look up to find 5 guys in basketball jackets from West High. There standing by the Graphic novel section looking at books. When did jocks ever read books? There was a really tall kid I think he was white, but could be half native. The guy next to him look Asian, and the 3 guys standing and talking were all white. One of the three were on the phone.
"We're on the road now." He lied "Yeah, don't worry I will. Ok bye."
He hung up the phone then started dialing numbers again then my phone ring. Maybe the guy is calling me
"Hello?"
"Hey Mona!" It was Tina. "Is it fine if Don comes along with me to the library?" Tina is my partner on this research, even though I didn't do any research today I did more than her.
"Um...I'm actually leaving." I lied. "I'm gonna go home, but you should do the research for us. I have t0 baby-sit, parents going out."
"Oh, ok then I'll talk to you tomorrow, bye." I don't like being the third wheel.
I close my book and got up to check out the book.
The Asian guy notice me get up, he smile then wave at me to come over. I was getting exited, but I try to look cool at the same time.
"Do you know any good books?" Really? Your asking me to come over here just so you can ask me if there's any good book. You could at least introduce yourself or something.
"Um... how about InuYasha? He's awesome, it has a mixture of love and killing." I said.
"Oh, thanks." I walk off.
Praying that I never see this guy or any of his other friends at the library. I was being mean 'cause he didn't ask for my name or even say his name.
I walk outside to find that it was cold and very dark out, so I decided to take the bus home and not to wake.
The Next Day
I have math for 1st and 2nd hour. There are only 12 kids in the math class. I'm reading "A love like Comic" part 2 while waiting for the rest of the kids to get to class.
"Hey Freak!" Tom, he's lacy older brother. Lacy is my white friend, she's in my grade and has a boyfriend name Crew. Her brother, Tom is a junior and is in my 2 hour block math class 'cause he failed it last year.
Having other race as your friend's feels weird. Not as bad weird, but good weird. When I'm hanging 0out with my Hmong friends I feel like I'm in a different world, but when I'm hanging out with my white, black, etc. friends I'm in a different world from my Hmong friends.
Tom yank my book out of my hand and started reading it out loud in a girly voice.
"I will find a boyfriend to improve my Novels!" He said. Everyone was staring at us now.
"You almost cut me." I took my book back.
"Did I? Let me see." He came closer to me.
"Go away, you book thief."
"Fine, I know how it is." He sat all the way in his chair.
I look at my book, mad that now Tom Probably thinks I'm desperate, well I do want a boyfriend, but I don't want to look desperate at the same time.
