Isla's Guys Chapter 1
This is my first story so any criticism or praise would be greatly appreciated. Please comment and I hope you like it.
You know that saying that boyfriends will come and go, but friends are forever, well I seem to have lost both and coincidentally they end up together. Nice, I know. My best friend, well ex best friend Poppy Winters has stolen the love of my life and my gorgeous boyfriend Jack Simpson. But you can't put all the blame on her, Jack seems to have fallen for the drug that is Poppy.
Do you know what's even worse? I hate them both so much right now, but I still want Jack back because, well, it's simple-I love the guy. Jack and I met on the first day of sixth form. We fell for each other instantly on the induction day getting-to-know-you. Well we got to know each other very well, enough said. I fell for his blonde locks (except I do have a thing for curly hair which he does not have) and his sweet, loving nature. He was always so affectionate to me that I really didn't see this coming. I haven't turned ugly overnight, or have I? How can you tell? Oh I don't know I just don't get it.
I've got an English exam this afternoon, so this really wasn't the time to end a relationship. I found them both snogging near Jack's house and called up ending it. It was all done on impulse though because I regret it so much now because I really want him back.
Well I'm sitting on the grass mound outside the examination room, going through my notes on 'The Age of Innocence' when I'm interrupted by a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see Kieran looking down at me. I'm truly not in the mood to talk to anyone right now. Kieran is Poppy's now ex. See. Ruthless the pair of them. How do I describe Kieran? Hmm, well he is equally gorgeous as Jack. He's around 6ft, lightly tanned with black tousled hair and light blue eyes. He's toned and athletic. He's got it all, it can't be denied, along with a bit of an attitude. Not horrible though, just witty, slightly full of himself. He likes to wind me up, playfully though, or so I tell myself.
'Hey are you alright?' He asks me. I bow my head back down to my notes and say 'What do you think Kieran?'
'I'm guessing the same as me. What' you revising?'
'Do you really care?' Normally he'd reply with a comeback, but he is as heartbroken as I am. 'No. I don't' Truthful. He always is. He sits down next to me and leans back on the grass in the lovely June sunshine.
'How long do you think they've been seeing each other for then?' I ask him
'Don't know. Pop wasn't even off with me. I don't see what she sees in him.'
I turn to him in horror and want to slap him. 'You can't say that!' Kieran rolls his eyes.
'Well I don't know what Poppy saw in you. Obviously not enough to make her stick around.'
He grins. 'Is that so?' I nod defiantly. 'Yep!' He doesn't reply, just ponders it. The invigilator then calls out for my exam, so I gather my bag, sunglasses and notes and walk down the hill.
'Good luck Isla.' He calls out after me, waving his hand. I need all the luck in the world for this exam.
Well, hmm. It went ok, I guess. Truthfully. I'm just glad it's over and done with. Coming out of the hall, I spot my best friend Tyger on a picnic bench on his own waiting for me. He waves and instantly puts a smile on my all too dreary face. Tyger slings his bag over his shoulder and walks down to meet me. Tyger is wonderful. Warm, loving and my shoulder to cry on.
'How did it go Is?' He asks me.
'Ok I guess. Thanks for waiting'
'You're welcome. How are you feeling?'
'With my non-existent love life-well, I feel lonely. Truthfully, all I want is Jacks arms around me, hugging me and him telling me...he loves me.' I'm starting to weep so Tyger puts his arm around me and squeezes me.
'He doesn't know what he's missing, sweetie.'
'But I do.'
