Is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 Worth it?

A Quick Glimpse at the Xperia X2

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is not an ordinary smart phone; it is currently Sony’s best mobile phone and also marks the last Sony phone that uses the Windows Mobile operating system. It uses a touch screen display and a slide out full QWERTY keyboard that when combined, creates a very enjoyable navigating experience in the Xperia X2’s panel based interface system.

To explain further, the panel system is a series of various panels that serve as quick links into various phone functions; this set is further expandable with sixteen downloadable panels. This may be Sony giving us a peek at what would eventually replace the Windows Mobile operating system on their devices.

Sony’s Garden of Handheld Devices

Fans and critics of Sony are wondering when the Sony Ericsson division from the rest of Sony electronics would stop. This issue has been raised several times since Sony mobile phones are alienated from connecting to other Sony electronics. For instance, all the components of the Sony Home entertainment system are designed in such a way that they can detect each other in order to provide users with a more synchronized performance.

This applies to Sony Computers (the Vaio series), the Bravia home theatre systems, and even the Sony home consoles. They also make use of Sony’s cross media bar or the XMB. This interface is a very simple yet well designed for all users. It can be easily navigated and does not take more than a moment to learn to use. With the Xperia series still existing outside of Sony’s immediate circle, fans are demanding that Sony release a mobile phone, or a device with mobile phone capabilities that is purely under the Sony name instead of Sony Ericsson.

Currently there are a lot of rumors about a new Sony PSP Phone. To read further into the context that Sony will cease to use Windows Mobile on their mobile phones, could they also be hinting that they will no be taking a new approach in the development of mobile phones as well?

Xperia X2 Facts

Speculation aside, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is Sony’s here and now. That means that they will be supporting this device for quite some time still, and this device is worth supporting. With expandable memory, a great 8.1 mega pixel camera, TV out, an SD card slot, capacitive touch screen, WiFi, HSDPA, A-GPS and other crucial features that make up a smart phone, the Xperia X2 is still an impressive phone in its own right.
