Nursery Water Manufacturing Process
According to the manufactures, nursery water is purified water meant for babies. They claim that the manufacturing process involves various stringent purification methods, in order to ensure the health and safety of babies. According to them, the process starts with the filtration of water to remove the impurities. It is followed by steam distillation process, which makes the water pure and fit for babies. In some cases, minerals, like, fluoride, magnesium, calcium, and potassium are also added to the nursery water. Micron filtration is done for quality and the process ends with ozonation to disinfect the water. It is also claimed that most brands of nursery water are made as per the applicable State and Federal bottled water regulations. As per the manufacturers, nursery water is healthy and safe for babies, as compared to any other form of water. Is Nursery Water Safe for Newborns?
The whole controversy started with the fluoride content in nursery water. While health experts are divided over the effects of fluoride content in nursery water, manufacturers still claim that small amounts of fluorides in nursery water is beneficial for babies. All these hues and cries leave the parents in dilemma, and they are confused about the safety of nursery water. According to some health experts, fluorides can cause fluoridosis in babies. Fluoridosis is a condition, which causes discoloration and malformation of teeth. Long term ingestion of fluorides may cause severe damage to the teeth. They also warn that effects of fluorides in infants can include brain damage and low IQ. It has also been doubted that babies are easily affected by fluorides, as compared to adults.
