Is It Worth Buying A Doorbell Intercom

One of the most intriguing products on the market today are doorbell intercoms. Find out what all the buzz is about.
Many homeowners agonize over what is the best way to spend their money in protecting and/or decorating their home. A Doorbell Intercom System gives homeowners a number of extra benefits that go well beyond the basic doorbell. These benefits are something all homeowners should consider when making their doorbell purchase.

The Intercom Becomes A GateKeeper
The Doorbell Intercom will let you answer the door without ever actually having to go to the door. This added benefit means you can answer the door as is without having to check your hair, throw on a shirt, or even come down stairs to address the visitor. This alone is a welcome addition to homes where the homeowners value their convenience.

Check In On The Baby
The doorbell intercom also lets you check on the baby from any room in the house. Imagine being able to enjoy hosting guests in the living room and being able to click on a button to see that the baby is doing just fine in the upstairs nursery. Just one little push of the button and you are connect with the other rooms in the house. These feature is especially good for large homes or for out of the way rooms where one is unlikely to hear a call for dinner or some other response from one of the main rooms in the house.

Décor Options
The doorbell intercoms come in a number of different shapes and colors which allow you to find one that matches your home décor. Some of the higher end versions are really adept at creating panels that not only blend in to the home décor, but can actually add to it.

Price Range
Another benefit is the cost of these intercoms. The price range for these systems tends to be in a range from $75 to $220. The more expensive models will have a few call boxes whereas the more standard models only have one or two. Recognize that if you decide you need additional call boxes later, you can get additional plug-ins that can be added to your existing intercom.

Extra Options
Some manufacturers give extra options to help you make up your mind about their product. These options can vary, but some of the more common ones are systems that use your home phone, video intercoms, and intercoms that allow for home music. These features are all slightly different. The systems that use your home phone allow you to talk to visitors through your home phone. The home phone essentially gets a distinctive ring alerting you that you have a visitor at the door. When you pick up the phone, you have a free line to the visitor. The video intercom simply lets you see who is there. This works much like any surveillance camera would as it gives you some added safety. Finally, intercoms with music options let you create a sound system for your entire home. They let you play either the radio or CD music to add something extra to your home entertainment experience. Naturally, you do end up paying more for these other options with video intercoms ranging in cost from $200 to $500 and the music intercoms climbing up to $1000.

At this stage, you should no whether a doorbell intercom may be right for you. With the previously mentioned reasons, many homeowners are turning to intercom systems as a way to give the extra protection and comfort.
