Is It The End (Part 4, Hiding)

As James, David, And Amy go into hiding from the U.S, they start to find out why the world is after them. James finally finds out the secrets to his life.
As we were driving, each lost in our own thoughts, worried, wondering what was going to happen next. Thinking about what I am dragging my friends through. Thinking about what could happen to my friends because of me. David told me (last section) that the reason the people came into the village is to kill me. They somehow knew that I was the one who had the vision. How they found that out is beyond me. I knew one thing for sure; my best friends Amy and David are going to be with me the whole way. Whatever the future might bring. Even if it brought each of us to are death, they never left my side, or will ever leave my side. I tried to tell them that if they are with me, they will be in danger. It did not matter. They did not care what the future brings. They were with me, and that is what a good friendship is.

"David, what are you huffing about?" Amy asked, looking annoyed yet again. "Well, let's see, it can't have anything to do with tones of people dying, half the U.S is after us, and my PSP batteries are dead," David complained. "I thought it might be that! Would you stop worrying about the PSP. If you want to do something, drive for James, he has been driving for 5 hours straight," Amy said. "Why don't you drive Amy?" David snapped. "Would both of you stop it, David, you need to drive. If I fall asleep at the wheel, then we won't have to run from those people," I said sternly. "Ok James, we get it, just pull over and we will switch," David said. We pulled over, and when we got out of the car, we saw a dead body on the ground. The person looked like he was shot and left there to die. Dried blood all over the ground around him. "You know, I think I'm getting used to seeing all these dead bodies" David said. "Oh, for crying out loud, let's get out of here David," Amy said, looking worried. We got into the car, and started to drive. It was all going well, except for our hunger. "Hay James, where are we going to go?" David Asked. "I think th-""That we should go to the camp ground about an hour from here," Amy interrupted. "Tha- That's it Amy, there are awesome places to hide there," I said, looking excited. "Ok David, do you know were the camp ground is?" I asked. "Yeah, who doesn't? I hate to break this little happy hour, but they might already be there, James; you are the most wanted person in the U.S," David said, laughing. "Well, we have to do something. We can't stay here and die in this car. We have to find somewhere to hide. But where are we going to sleep?" I asked. "I am way ahead of you James. I brought a tent and sleeping bags with some caned food," Amy said happily. "Ok, where in the world did you get that?" I asked excitedly. "Well, let's just say that I took some from a store we went to," Amy said, smiling. "Brilliant, really awesome. Ok. Let's try to find somewhere to stay for a night. We have to keep on the move. Or at least until we know what to do," I said. We got there and settled down at the camp ground, out a little way from the road. The hours were spent in complete silence. Usually sleeping.

We left the next day about 8:00am. About four hours of driving, we found a wooded place that was deserted. We decided to set up camp there and to spend two nights in that place, and then move on. That night was the best in my life. We sat for hours talking about life in general. We were now out of food that Amy had packed. Talking was about the only thing that was keeping us from thinking about our hunger. "Amy. I've been thinking. You know. I still owe you a date for that first night, when you know-" " Would you just spit it out already. I told you that I did not care if you two were going out!" David said. "Sorry. Anyway, when and if we get out of this mess, we are going somewhere nice. Of course, if you want to come David," I said with a sigh to David. "Oh that would be good. A nice romantic night and then you make some moves when you get to the house," David said. "Well, let's figure that out later. I am going to fix us some chili," "OH, so you are going to make some moves on James?" David asked smiling. "Oh, just shut up! I am going to start the chili. You and David, the pervert, can just stay out here. Oh, I will make it extra spicy," Amy said. "Sound great," I said, suddenly realizing how hungry I was. It took about an hour to fix the chili, and then we sat by a near tree and ate. "You know, I am really getting tired, I'm going to bed," David said yawning. "Night," Amy said to David. Then turned to me. "Amy, listen. We have to try to figure out how to end this. The world is dying away because of me. There is an answer to this, and it is me," I said to Amy. "Well, have you tried to find a way to see more, well, visions," She said. "No, but I don't think it is possible. I mean, yes, I saw the bomb. What else is there to see? I don't think that a vision would just come when I want it. I'm not a TV," I added. "Yes, we know that. But if you do have one, tell us right away." Amy said. She leaned over and kissed me and went back inside. "Night" I said to the darkness. I sat out there thinking. What was I going to do, what was going to happen? Will my friends stay with me till the end? Don't talk like that I told myself. I couldn't talk like that. I had to keep my hopes up. "Well, at least we know one thing; I don't have to go to school" I said out loud to the night.

We all woke up about five in the morning. Deciding it would be better to get moving, we got our stuff and started down the road in the car. "James, where are we going?" David asked. "Well, I was thinking that we should most likely stay about an hour away from where we were last night. There is more forest to stay at about an hour away. We will spend two nights there. We need to go deep in the forest though," I added. "JAMES, I think I found something. No, just listen David! It on the Internet. it is saying where everyone has gone. Let me just read it: 'As we already know, the bomb has gone off. So where are you going to go. Sources report that the foreign Government are taking people in to a shelter. If you go to the shelter, it is known that you are surrendering. DON'T GO! Whatever happens. If you go, you are a COWARD. Only about one hundred people 'gave up' and let the foreign government take over there family and there lives. But the problem is, we never heard from anyone that has gone in the shelter again. If you are smart, you need to stay on the run. God bless you, wherever you are. The current list of people that has surrendered (cowards) are listed on page 2,'" She finished reading and click a link to get to the next page. "Are my parents on there" I asked Amy, hoping to hear the right answer. "Um, well, yes, they are. Sorry. They are not collecting people either. They won't make you go to the shelter. Its either you go, or you get shot," She said, looking worried. "THOSE FREAKEN COWARDS!" I yelled, making Amy and David jump. "HOW IN THE HELL COULD SOMEONE LIVE WITH THEMSELVES. THOSE FREAKS. AFTER EVERY MAN DIE FOR THERE COUNTRY, THEY CAN'T EVEN STAY ON THE RUN," I yelled. "I know James, but please don't yell," Amy said, looking scared. "David, can you drive," I shot at David. "Su-sure," David responded, looking timid. I got into the back seat looking mad. How could my parents do that. I never spent much time with them because I knew they were idiots, but how can they just give up. "James, um, I'm really sorry. I don't know what has gotten in to this world. After this is all over, we will go back and talk to your parents," Amy said, in an understanding way. "I'm not going back. I can't live with them anymore. Is there anyone else that we know on there?" I asked. "Well, there's that Ben dude. The one that you did not like in class, yeah, looks like his parents did not give up, but he did," Amy said, smiling. "I can believe that. He has always been a freak, anyway, we have better get to a hiding place, it would not be good to stay on the road too long," I said, yawning. "Alright, David, there is a place about, um, half an hour away from here, we can camp there. A couple of days," I added to Amy. "There is no reason why we shouldn't. Also, it is risky, but we need to go and get some food. We can't last that much longer without any food," I said.

About ten minutes later of complete silence, David finally spoke; "Well, look at that, a food store place," David said, pointing. "Ok, a food store place, that explains it. It can't be called a grocery store, that would be too simple," I said, laughing. "Oh ha-ha, well, just because I don't use big words," David said. For the first time in weeks, I laughed. It took us about two minutes to stop. Amy finally hiccupped herself to seriousness. "Ok, come on, let's see if we can find anything to eat. Then we need to get to the camp and we can eat there," Amy said. "Fine. James, where is the gun?" David asked. "In the back, can we move," I said, starting to get annoyed. We went inside the store, like usual, it is deserted. We took as much food as we could carry. Most of the food was caned. We were not in the store for ten minutes, when I heard a gunshot and a yell. I ran over to where I thought I heard it. As I got closer, I slowed down to listen. There was someone talking. "Where is your little friend, James? I know he is here," the person said. David did not say a word. I looked over the corner of the wall and my heart almost stopped. There was David, on the ground. Shot in the side. Blood all over the floor. I went up behind the person that shot David and wrapped my arm around his neck. Then I broke his neck. David looked up, but could not manage to say a word. I ran to find Amy and then brought her back. "Wh- Wha" "We have to get him to the car, help!" I said to Amy, who looked like she might faint. After we got David to the car, and all three of us drenched in blood, we put pressure on the place where David got shot before he could lose any more blood. I found a first aid kit in the car, and it had the perfect tools in it to help David. "I think that I can get the bullet out. But if anything goes wrong, he might not make it" I said, looking worried. "He has-has to make it. Don't tell me that!" Amy said, starting to cry. I looked down at the place where David got shot; the bullet was not very deep. "Ok, I think I can get the bullet. After I pull the bullet out, put extreme pressure on it. If you don't he will start bleeding like mad," I told Amy, and she agreed. "Ok, I got hold of it. On three, I will pull it out and you put your hands over the spot with pressure. One, Two, Three," I yanked the bullet out and Amy, looking like she was going to be sick, added extreme pressure. "Here is a bandage. It is made for this kind of stuff, quickly, removes your hands," I commanded. Amy removed her hands and then I put the bandage on the bullet whole. "James, is he going to be o-ok?" Amy asked. "I think so. The bullet was not rusty, so there is a better chance. We have to go somewhere. We have to put him in the hospital. You can't be with me, you have to be with David," I said, starting to panic myself. "No, that will not work," Amy said. Then with knowing that David was ok, she started to talk in a stronger voice." I have been thinking. There is something going on with you James, you being able to have visions," "I only have one," I corrected her. "No, you have had more. When we were really young, you told me that you had a dream about David's uncle having a wreak and dying. Well, it happened. He died. So this is a sort of gift that you have. You see what is going to happen if it is something, well, big," Amy said. "Um. This is stupid. Let's just try to figure out a way to get David a bed, and then we will figure this out," I said. "Ok. I know where we can go. I know the nurse that found this out. About you having the gift of visions. I have a feeling that she knows what's going on. Let's take David there and see if we can make since out of the whole thing," Amy said, looking confident.

We put David in the car. Amy drove us to the place where this woman lived. It was a little poor place that looked like it was never taken care of. Amy knocked on the door. "Hello" The women said. "It Amy. We talked about a week back, through email. About James," Amy said, looking worried that she might say the wrong thing. "Oh, how are you. James, I have heard a lot about you. I don't have much time, so let me get to it. Amy told me that she wants to make since out of this whole thing, or so you understand it anyway, considering Amy knows what is going on," The women said. "What?" I asked stunned. "We don't have much time, Amy will explain that later. So have a seat. This is going to sound different. Please try to understand what I am about to tell you. So why is the United States after you? Easy, you are wanted because you have, let's say, powers that others do not. You are famous because of what you have done. This is how it is. There is another world that is unknown to man kind, well, half of man kind. Those books and stuff you have heard about sorcerers, they are real," "OK, Hold up there. Are you drunk?" I asked. "No, not since last year. Not the point. For a long time, man kind has been split into two worlds. There has been a world out there, among your friends and family, that is using sorcery to kill man kind. That is what there job is. There is a person in charge of all this. His name is Karlope." "So you're telling me that there are people running around her like Harry Potter," I asked. "No you idiot. That is fake. This is not anything like it. They are mortal like we are. I don't have much time, so I will tell you now how to end this war that has started. You have to kill Karlope. If you kill him, the world will once again be at peace. If you are killed, the sorcerers will murder every last human except for their kind, and start a new world. You have to find Karlope, and put a bullet through his head. I have to leave you now, you know what you are supposed to do, so do it. You have one week," She finished with a stutter and then she fell silent, dead. I looked over at Amy. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!" I yelled. "James. She is telling you that you have to kill this person to stop a war between the two worlds," Amy said. "You- you knew about this," I told Amy. "Yes. Sorry, but I could not tell you. I am one of them, but I am working against them," Amy said, looking sorry. There was a long silence.

"James. She is right, you have to end this. I am sorry I could not tell you, but it is against the rules. Let's get David and get out of her," Amy commanded. Then it all happened at once, she went into David's room, put her hands on his chest, and David was breathing normal again. "Wh- What?" I tried to say. "I am one to. Didn't I just explain that to you? Never mind me, we have to start planning," Amy said looking professional. "Ok. So I am the only one to stop this?" I asked. "Yes, you are. Now that you know your mission, it is time you know everything about this world," She said. "Ok, this is really messed up, but tell me the worse," I said sarcastically.

As she told me about this new world I never knew about, I could not help but keep thinking how I could not even see this. How I could not see that Amy was always acting different. After about an hour of this, I was starting to understand why I am here, and what I was going to do. Everything became clear. The end of the world was stopped because of me. The battle with the "other world" and our world was supposed to already have happened. I stopped it. I had to end it. As the three of us looked out the window of the house, we wondered what was going to happen next. What we got ourselves into, and what we were going to face. I could tell one thing as I sat there thinking, it was time to leave childhood forever and face stuff that people will never even think about facing.

Readers note: well, Amy, David and James are now going to have a mission to complete. It is getting good. Hopefully you are INTO it now. The last part is coming out soon.
