Is It Possible to Believe in Evolution and Be An American?

I heard a quote from the Declaration of Independence the other day, and it struck a chord with me about how the founders of the United States described the rights that they were seeking. So, the question came to my mind, if these rights came from our Creator, how do I reconcile the predominate theory of creation, which is Creator-less.
I heard a quote from the Declaration of Independence the other day, and it struck a chord with me about how the founders of the United States described the rights that they were seeking. So, the question came to my mind, if these rights came from our Creator, how do I reconcile the predominate theory taught in America's schools, which is essentially Creator-less.

Here's a passage from the Declaration of Independence, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

If, as the Theory of Evolution promotes, man evolved from another species, then, how could we have been endowed by our Creator. Or, would a "lower" species have received the endowment and have passed it on to us? Some Evolutionists believe that there was a Creator, while some do not. In either case, it would be a stretch to say that man has special rights over any other creature given the heritage that this Theory requires. If all creatures are endowed with these rights, why don't other species have the ability to Declare their Independence?

Hopefully, this line of reasoning (a trait unique to man) will bring to light your own questions about this Country's beginning as well as your own.
