Is Acupuncture Right for You?

In a world of increasingly high medical and insurance costs, more and more people are being turned on to acupuncture to treat everything from illness to stress and emotional problems.
While some people hold skepticism when it comes to anything other than conventional Western medicine, fans of Eastern medicine rave about the costs, benefits and effectiveness of treatments such as acupuncture. In a world of increasingly high medical and insurance costs, more and more people are being turned on to this type of treatment for everything from illness to stress and emotional problems.

Acupuncture is known as an Asian way of cleansing the body’s system and promoting a positive energy flow through the body. The process involves placing long needles on specific points on the body. Techniques vary, as different angles and needle-types can alter the result of the method.

The location of the needle placement depends on the illness or problem the patient is experiencing. Acupuncturists believe the needles placed in the body draw energy to the areas of illness or pain and create the energy flow needed to heal and promote health.

Twenty years ago, acupuncture treatment was not considered a true medical option. However, more recent studies have revealed that acupuncture provides a very effective option for treating a variety of illnesses. Today, the treatment is much more accepted, and even some insurance plans now cover acupuncture.

Reported benefits of acupuncture include:

· Immune system boost

· Decrease in pain levels or complete elimination of pain

· Faster recovery times from illness

· Stress reduction

· Increased energy and strength

· Great accompaniment to traditional medical treatments

Some choose to use acupuncture as a preventative technique and undergo treatment although they are not experiencing a particular illness. Other people utilize the Asian method as a tool to promote weight loss and cellulite reduction.

Patients facing cancers and other diseases like HIV/AIDS have reported impressive results from acupuncture—from pain relief to higher energy levels. There have also been great reports when it comes to acupuncture and candida, a condition resulting from overgrowth of the yeast candida albicans. The acupuncture techniques help to restore balance in the body’s intestinal flora, where the candida has grown out of control. This change in the internal environment can reduce the yeast overgrowth. It is especially effective when combined with a candida diet.

Additionally, acupuncture's ability to boost one’s immune system makes it a great treatment option for candida as well as a host of other conditions. It has also shown to prevent healthy people from becoming sick. Regular acupuncture keeps the positive energy flowing throughout the body, which is the Eastern medicine’s primary way to optimal health.
