iPhone 4g Refund Available

Though the word Refund and Apple may have not been heard of together in the same sentence, Apple has recently announced iPhone 4g refunds for customers facing connectivity problems...
Apple's problems with their flagship device, the iPhone, continues, in spite of the popularity of the same. With almost 2 million iPhone 4g's sold on the opening weekend itself, no one is doubting that this is a bestseller phone. However, the huge numbers does not mean that this is a perfect product, and as days go by, more and more problems are cropping up in the device. Of course, the main problem has been the network reception with many users claiming that the iPhone 4g was more prone to dropping calls and losing network reception as compared to other phones. The issue was addressed by Apple, who claimed that if the phone was held in a particular way, then the issue would crop up, and the easiest way to avoid it was not to cover the lower right edge of the phone, as it housed the antenna. Unfortunately, this makes it very difficult for left-handed people to use the phone, as they would be covering the antenna with their normal grip. Even right-handed people would at times be covering the antenna, and let's face it, concentrating on how you hold your phone to get maximum reception is just not the thing you would want to be bothered about. Especially not after paying $200 for the phone. And as for changing your grip to hold a phone, let's not even go there.

The other solution, and the more reasonable one I might add, was to put the phone in a bumper case, which solved all the problems. However, the case itself costs $29, and with the iPhone 4g price at almost $200, customers were loath to pay an additional $29 for something that should have not occurred in the first place.

All that has been put to rest however, with Steve Jobs himself acknowledging the problem, and taking measures so that the public was not inconvenienced by the product. While the company has offered the bumper cases free of cost now, Jobs was quick to point out that other leading phone manufactures faced the same problems with reception (and understandably so, if you put your fingers anywhere close to the antenna it is bound to result in a lower signal, the only problem with the antenna in the iPhone 4g is the location of it). Jobs also claimed that compared to the 3GS, the iPhone 4g had better statistics regarding call drops and reception issues, and said that the reception problems were blown out of proportion.

But the good news here is you don't have to take Steve Jobs at his word. If you think that the reception is causing you problems, then you have a couple of options:
  1. You can avail of the free bumper case that solves this problem. For people who have spent out of their pockets for this bumper case, Apple will provide them with a refund.
  2. If you think that the bumper case is not an effective solution, you also have the option of giving back your phone in 30 days for a full cash refund.
So there you go, all those people who thought Apple has ripped them off can now return the phone, claim an iPhone 4g refund and breathe easier. However, keep in mind the return policy is available only for 30 days from the purchase of the phone, and the free bumper case is available for phones sold till the 30th September only. Whether Apple is going to fix the issue post 30th September is another question altogether, and Steve Jobs has just said that they will be looking into the matter for now. Apple fanatics will be keeping their fingers crossed, and frankly, but for the reception problem, the iPhone 4g features make it one helluva phone.
