Investing Love

A thought today for tomorrow makes life easier for those left behind, when we are no more. A selfless deed will sow the seeds of love...
Investing Love
She came to the park each day and took the seat near mine,
She always had a certain way of sitting with hunched recline.

At first we said nothing at all, the silence around spoke and told,
Of children and crisp air of fall; then, I noticed the wrinkle unfold.

She was old I saw, as I shot a glance; she seemed to revel in peace and bliss
Life treated her well with every chance, she had never yearned for a loving kiss.

These treasures she had all and more and seemed content and wise,
We shared a thought on life and lore and the ebb of love and rise.

She spoke of a life good as gold, of caring child and table laid,
She was cared for and also told of her home as the eve swayed.

We met each day, spoke a while; I earned invite to meet,
Loved ones apart by a mile, as we strolled through the sleet.

It was not grand as I had thought and told of much needed repair,
Then what was it she had bought that kept no space for despair?

She spread books of memories, of younger days and good times;
The mate who strove to please and a son who sold rhymes.

She knew not of lace or gold or fancy clothes or maid,
But abundance of love told and strife so well repaid.

Her love, he was fast asleep; her boy came once in a way,
Both had sown for her to reap in the evening of a rainy day.

Memories her abound and shroud, awaiting the reunion and rest,
Her life now spoke clear and loud of love that had passed the test.

Then the clouds cleared and light peeped through for me to know,
That mine too could dare the night, if I used my time well to sow.
