Into the Deep End

The story is of a group of friends who let insignificant things get in the way of their friendship. Please comment!
Lately, I haven’t been paying attention,
I haven’t seen how the lines have blurred,
Burdened by stress, and the quick building tension,
I didn’t realize how the tables had turned.

Oh, how the times have changed up on me
Flip-flopping roles, and 10x more yelling,
It took me this long to open my eyes and see,
Someone uncovered the lies we’d been telling.

The bonds between friends shouldn’t be broken,
At least not so effortlessly; so easily,
So many harsh words were spoken,
It’s almost hard to believe.

We used to be able to talk for hours,
Whisper deep dark secrets late at night,
Like old milk, our relationship soured,
Couldn’t keep it fresh, even though we tried.

We let one little boy get in our way,
We let shared secrets out in desperation,
To get him to listen to anything we’d say,
Being ignored led us all to frustration.

We dove into the deep end,
When we knew we couldn’t swim,
Now we’ve all lost a friend,
And nobody wins.
