Now there is nothing wrong with this idea but for someone that is not familiar with the fact that there are two types of traffic, one targeted and one not targeted is what can get the new marketer into a lot of trouble as to there sources of traffic.

And even worse are those sites that promise to blast your URL to millions of free for all sites, and ad directories. Well one rule of thumb that you can use for getting traffic on the internet is if it is too easy then it likely isn’t worth your giving it any serious thought.
Right the bat all these sources is untargeted traffic and you will get no were with it. Traffic exchanges are useful to a limited degree because they are targeted to one very tight niche, that is the traffic niche, there all looking for traffic but the problem is there not looking to pay for it. So there is no commercial intention on there part. Then you have the opt-in mailing list were all the marketers mail each other, this also is a complete waist of time, because this group is all marketers that are looking to make money and not spend any money. The e-mail address that they use to signup up with theses mailing list are garbage email address that they have all the spam dumped into.
All the classified ad sites and free for all (FFA) sites suffer the same thing as the first two the e-mail address’s used to signup for theses services are bogus. The worst of it is using theses types of traffic sources can really hurt any future hopes of getting organic traffic from the search engines, as you are linked to all kinds off what Google considers link farms.
For the internet marketer starting out the bets free sources of traffic involve a bit of work but are well worth the effort one of theses sources is from submitting articles to article directories, this brings targeted traffic that have people that have some commercial intention. Other free ways of getting free traffic is by using web 2.0 properties like Hub pages and Squidoo lens, video sites these can all be a real wealth of quality traffic.
The reason that they are so good is that Google is constantly reindexing theses types of sites and if you have content on theses sites that is targeted to the money keywords your using your going to get a lot of great traffic not just from Google picking up your keywords from theses high ranking sites but also from the internal search that goes on in the web 2.0 sites themselves.
