Interior House Paint Colors
Choosing the right interior paint colors is a very important job if you want to create the right look and ambiance for your house.

Tips on Choosing Interior Paint Colors
There are some things that you need to consider while choosing interior house color paints. They are as follows.
- All the rooms of the house should be painted in colors that complement each other so that there is a cohesiveness in all the rooms.
- You should also keep in mind the kind of lighting that is used in that room. If the room uses artificial lighting then, have a look at the paint in artificial light to get an idea of how the color would look like.
- The furnishings and the furniture of the room should also complement the paint colors.
- If you want to create an elegant and harmonious look, then you might want to use different shades of the same interior paint colors for the windows, doors, columns, shutters, moldings and wall trimmings.
- If you have a large room and are not afraid to experiment, then you can use different interior paint colors in contrasting hues to provide accents to windows, doors and wall trimmings.
- If you are painting the entire house, first choose the wall colors, before going on for choosing the colors of the doors, windows and shutters.
- Do not make the mistake of choosing colors from a shade card as paint colors look very different when painted on walls. What might look good on a small area, might not look that great when it is painted on a larger area.
- The best way to choose interior house colors is to get a sample paint of all the shades that you are considering painting the house in. Now paint small sections of the wall with the help of a paint brush in the colors of your choice and then choose the best option. Take care to view the paint sample in both artificial as well as day light as colors look very different under different light arrangement.
- If you have a very large room then consider painting in a dark color, as this gives a cozy appearance to the room. The downside of using dark colors are that they fade faster and require more maintenance than lighter colors.
- People who have smaller ceilings should opt for white color for ceilings as it gives an illusion of larger space. However if you have very high ceilings in your room then go for darker hues.
- When you are painting the entire house, choose at least five to six different colors. If you choose more than this, the house will end up looking too garish and kitschy. Also, the lesser use of colors will look boring and flat.
- If you are adventurous you can also try different decorative painting techniques like sponging, stippling and marbling to enhance the way the room looks.
