INTERESTING THOUGHT- Romeo and Juliet

THIS IS MY OPINION ON THE ROMEO AND JULIET STORY
Hey guys,

Just had an interesting thought yesterday
So I am going to post it up and see what y'all think

Of course, you all know the story of Romeo and Juliet?
Shakespear classic
Tragic tale
I won't repeat the plot, I’m sure you all know it

And though it is a truly great play I wonder why it was made so famous, as the plot, I mean

Because I am pretty sure that if, two kids killed themselves today it would be tragic and people would be disturbed but it wouldn't be seen as romantic

E.g.
A girl receives a horrible text from her long-term boyfriend
A horrible text, saying terrible things about her and how he was playing her and how he hated her so much

She is so disturbed she kills herself

It turns out someone had stolen her boyfriends phone, and sent that to her

When her boyfriend finds out she is dead, she kills himself

Now, surely, that would be seen as a tragic tale, but somehow I think the Romans would be lost
And if any of you have read or seen shakespear and understand enough about the old English language to understand it I’m sure you would have noticed

That when Romeo is talking about the green sickness, telling her to cast it away
The green sickness was going without sex
So in quite a blatant way he was asking her to have sex with her
And yet it sounds so nice when they act it out in a romantic tone

So, was Romeo and Juliet the equivalent of porn in those days?

PLEASE COMMENT YOUR THOUGHTS

P.S.
Don't get me wrong, I’m a sucker for Romeo and Juliet. Cry every time. Love it. Don't take this offensively..
