Maine is known for its delicious seafood cuisine. It is particularly famous for its shellfish and reports reveal around 90% of American lobsters are caught in Maine.
The State of Maine is the only state in the United States of America that shares its border with only one state.

Maine also sees the growth of the most number of blueberries in the nation. It remains to be the sole place which has the largest produce of blueberries grown either in the wild or cultivated specially.
Around 90% of the land out here is forested area. Therefore, it is also known as the Pine Tree State.
Apart from the beautiful forests, Maine is also known for the gorgeous coastlands. These coastal areas are dotted with lighthouses (Over 60 lighthouses!) and the jagged rocks only add to the beauty of the place.
Reports reveal Algonquian-speaking couples were said to be the original inhabitants of Maine. Around the 1620s, there were many English settlements out here.
The White Pinecone and Tassel is the State flower and the Moose is the State animal of Maine. The Eastern White Pine is the State tree and the wild blueberry is the State berry.
Maine also has the largest toothpick manufacturing plant in the entire of United States. This plant produces around 20 million toothpicks in a single day.
Maine enjoys a very humid climate with warm summers and cold winters. The winter season in particular is very severe in the northern areas of Maine.
The springs seen in the western areas of Maine are the main source used to produce bottled water.
The main industries in Maine revolve around naval shipbuilding and construction along with paper and wood products. Tourism also has a major part to play for the economy of the State of Maine. Tourists can have a great time out here trying out outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, sport fishing and boating.
Maine has around 5,500 miles of gorgeous coastlines and about 2000 islands.
The highest point in the State of Maine is Mount Katahdin at 5,268 feet above sea level.
The State of Maine became the 23rd State on the 15th of March, 1820.
The port of main has a very important role for national transport. Portland International Jetport has been even expanded for being one of the busiest ports.
Maine also records to have a larger population of people that speak French.
This state is also the home to a large number of shipbuilding companies. Wooden shipbuilding had a major role to play for the economy of Maine during the 18th and the 19th century.
