Instructions for Lawn Mower Repairs
A lawn mower is a machine, most often used in gardening, to cut the lawn at an equal length. The blades in these machines either rotate on a vertical axis or horizontal axis to cut the lawn. Use of lawn mowers has increased considerably over a period of time. Today small mowers are used to cut lawn at home, while huge mowers are used to cut lawn at golf courts. With so many people using mowers for lawn care these days, some simple instructions for lawn mower repairs can be of great help. Here are some problems, their possible reasons and their solutions.

If the Lawn Mower Doesn't Start
This is one of the most common problem with most of the electronic equipments. The foremost thing you need to do is to check the basics like, is there enough fuel in it? Is the spark plug properly attached? etc. Continuously trying to start it, will only flood the engine. If everything is in place, and still the mower refuses to start, the problem may be with the throttle cable. Check the throttle cable, and see whether it's operating properly. In some cases liberal priming can also flood the carburetor. In such cases, pulling the starter cord in stop position will help to clear the excess fuel, and then you can take a small break and start trying again. If the mower is still refusing to start, check the spark plug, as well as the spark plug wire. If it's worn out or damaged, you should replace it with a new one. Overheated engine can be another reason for your lawn mower not starting. Most of the people take the easy way out by taking a break and then trying to start the mower all over again. Though easy, this can prove to be harmful in the long term, and therefore it's better to get to the root cause of the problem, rather then just avoiding it. In most of the cases grass or debris stuck in the machine prevent air circulation, and thus leads to engine overheating. Overheating can also be caused, when the air filter is clogged. In these cases, you need to open the mower and remove the debris.

If the Lawn Mower is Continuously Vibrating
If the lawn mower is vibrating while you are working with it, immediately put the engine off. The mower can vibrate either when the blades are damaged or their balance is disrupted. Disconnect the spark plug and check the blades. Make sure that you are wearing gloves while doing this, as the blades can cut your fingers. If the balance is disrupted, remove the blades out, and refit them in the mower. You can sharpen the lawn mower blades using a file before you plant them back. If the blade is damaged, you can buy a new set of blades and install them. Balance is the most important aspect of a land mower, therefore make sure that they are properly balanced, either when installing new blades or when refitting the old ones. Tighten the blades properly. Also look for any possible damages to the engine housing. In case of some minor problem like a dent you can yourself work on it, but if its some major problem it's wiser to take it to a person who specializes in lawn mower repairs. Other then these, problems may also arise when chain drives become dirty, or belts in case of belt-driven mowers, become loose. These problems can be solved by opening the mower and cleaning the components. In case of loose components you can tighten them using a spanner. If the mower is making too much of noise, then it is the sign of a damaged muffler, wherein you will have to replace the muffler.

If the Lawn Mower Engine Stops Suddenly
In case the lawn mower engine starts properly, but suddenly chokes and goes off, the problem can be attributed to flywheel key. The flywheel key is especially designed to break when the blade hits some hard object while trimming the lawn. This is a defense mechanism to protect the crankshaft as well as other engine components from getting damaged. Once the flywheel key is broken the mower becomes unusable till it is replaced with a new one. Another reason due to which your mower can experience a sudden choke, is when the exhaust pipe is blocked by grass or debris. In such a case you have to open the mower and clean the debris for proper functioning of the mower.

Lawn mower is an important gardening equipment, which helps you in keeping your surroundings in good shape, and therefore these instructions for lawn mower repairs are bound to help you in troubleshooting the lawn mower problems, and increasing its efficiency.
