Installing a Shower Stall
The shower stalls installed in bathrooms come in different forms and types. Shower stall mats and shower stall seats are some of the accessories used in shower stalls.
Installing Shower Stall
It is easy to install a 1-piece shower stall, since it is mostly available in the prefabricated form. One has to install a drain strainer before setting up the shower stall assembly or enclosure. It can be done with the help of a wrench and plumber's putty. By applying enough putty, the possibility of the strainer leaking, reduces considerably. While installing the unit, one should check whether the strainer is properly inserted into the drain hole or not. The unit is firmly fitted with the help of sheet rock nails.
The advantage of installing a 5-piece shower over the 1-piece shower, is that the former can be assembled with ease. Unlike the 1-piece shower, which is too large to handle, the 5-piece shower can be assembled at home.
Fiberglass shower stalls are also a good option, considering the fact that they are made of tempered glass and don't break easily.
Before installing a shower stall and parts such as the shower head, the ceiling that lies above the unit should be plastered with cement. Having a drywall won't help, since it is not water resistant. The above precaution helps protect the wall from the steam.
The new shower to be installed might need studs, in addition to those of the old shower stall. One should check whether the walls need some restructuring, since the new shower stall might have different dimensions altogether. Since the shower stall assembly has solid and strong walls, the possibility of leakage is minimum.
Shower Stall Mats
The mats used in shower stalls should provide a firm grip so that one doesn't slip while bathing. Nowadays, shower stall mats made of vinyl are used. Some of the mats available in the market come with suction cups that provide a cushion between the floor and the bottom of these mats.
For disabled people and those who cannot stand properly, a shower stall seat proves useful. These seats are made from water resistant material and are available in different models. A commonly used shower stall seat, the shower chair, is available both with and without arms. The retractable shower stall seat is provided with a hinge, and is connected to the wall of the shower stall.
The activity of installing a shower stall is made easy with the availability of a range of shower stall units, such as the 1-piece and the multi-piece. Shower stall units come with instructions and the necessary accessories. Many of them may include the clips needed, in the kit itself. Before installing shower stalls, one should take all the measurements necessary to perfectly fit them in the bathroom. If the above instructions are followed, the installation procedure becomes quite easy to carry out.
