Inside the Walls
When I was young I thought,
That love was sold or bought.
Then I found an open willing heart,
Who took my shaking hand and made it calm.
And every wrecking ball kiss,
Shook my mortared walls free of the desire to resist.
I chose to hold back with forbearance of the unknowable,
Stayed in the keep of the unwanted reliable.
Until the moment my timing failed..
She left me, within my falling walls, jailed.
I do not apportion to her the blame,
Upon the destruction of my prison the memory remains.
