Infused Vodka

Vodka is a neutral tasting drink and hence infused vodka is all the rage in bars. It is possible to make infused vodka at home and there are many flavors that you can infuse it with.

Strong flavors like that of citrus, lemongrass and chili might need less than a week to infuse. Fleshy fruits like apples, raspberries and peaches will require to infuse for about two weeks. There are many infused vodka flavors that you can experiment with and the results might surprise you. You can also use hardy vegetables, herbs and spices to infuse your vodka. Pineapple Infused Vodka

  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 750 ml vodka
  • Mason jar
  • Strainer

To make the pineapple flavored vodka recipe, first clean the mason jar thoroughly and make sure that it is air tight. Next place the pineapple chunks inside the mason jar and fill it up with vodka. Cover tightly with the jar lid and place it in a cool dry place. Shake the jar a few times every day and taste it after two to three days. After about 2 weeks, the pineapple flavors will be nicely infused in the vodka. Strain the flavored vodka and throw out the pineapple chunks. Pour this infused pineapple vodka into the original vodka bottle. Your pineapple vodka is ready and you can use it as a drink.

Ginger Infused Vodka

Ingredients Required
  • Fresh ginger, 1 inch piece
  • 750 ml vodka
  • Mason jar
  • Strainer
Method

First peel the piece of ginger and grate it finely. Place the grated ginger in the mason jar and pour the entire amount of vodka into the jar. Place the lid on the jar and shake the jar a few times. Place the vodka in a cool dark place and allow the flavors to infuse for two to three days. At the end of three days, strain the vodka and discard grated ginger bits. Pour the infused ginger vodka into the original vodka bottle. As ginger is such an intensely spiced spice, you need to infuse it in the vodka for only two or three days. You can use this to make many delicious cocktails.

Lemon Infused Vodka

Ingredients Required
  • 4 lemons, thinly sliced
  • 750 ml vodka
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Mason jar
  • Strainer
Method

Place the lime zest as well as the sliced lemons inside the mason jar and pour the vodka over it. Stir the vodka with a wooden ladle and put on the lid. Place the mason jar with the vodka in a cool dark place like your pantry, and make sure that you shake the jar two to three times every day. After a week strain the lemon slices and lime zest from the vodka and store the vodka in a bottle. You can use this to make vodka gimlets or any other drink made with vodka. You can spice up this simple lemon vodka by placing a red chili in it at the time of infusion.

Other infused vodka ideas include pumpkin, bacon and coffee infused vodka. A new product that is available in supermarkets is protein infused vodka that is infused with casein. There are many flavored vodkas available in the market, but making your own for a party is quite interesting.
