Infatuation.???????..Love.??????? Part 8
PLEASE COMMENT....................................
Where the hell was Naina? Why she was not answering her call? Kajal was tired and not in one of the good moods. She was still not sure why she was mad. She was trying to call Naina so she won’t cook anything and they could have takeout and she’ll carry brownies. She wanted to eat chocolate, lots and lots of it. But hell! Naina was not answering to her calls. Maybe she was busy in work or meeting, her mind countered her with a reasonable answer. Grudgingly she accepted it and messaged the same to her, after her work hours she was standing at the bus stop but her bus was not coming only. All people standing with her had gone, she should have gone in a rickshaw but no she didn’t to spend too much. So here she was standing alone at the bus stop.
A bike came and stopped just in front of her, she ignored it. Then the guy removed the helmet, it was Sujit.
"Get on the bike." He ordered.
She had recognized his bike but ignored it. [she recognized the bike because back then she had memorized his license plate no. which proved she was crazy before] Well she might be now also {Crazed} as just looking at him her heart rate spiked. She ignored him as if he had not said anything. A bus came from behind and Sujit had to move his bike. So he took it little ahead.
"Kajal, stop being stubborn and come with me."
She was still ignoring him, and she saw her bus coming in. She smirked at Sujit and caught his smile. The smile was superior smile, which he only did when he wanted to say he was right. Confused she looked at her bus. Her mouth fell open, as the bus was full packed and there were people standing at the entry of the bus.
With her head down she walked towards Sujit and climbed on the bike with him. But she didn’t hold him. Sujit noted that. She was still stubborn that’s what Sujit thought. If that bus had not come packed till now they both would have been standing there at the bus stop. He had made a point to leave on time so he could meet her and finish off what he had started in their lunch break. She always loved riding on the bike, Neelam always told him that he drove too fast. But with Kajal. Faster the better, she enjoyed it. Now he was going on a moderate speed but she was still not touching him. Making a decision he rode a curve too closely and as expected her hands came at his waist. Satisfied with his work he drove on with a smile. Because of the helmet Kajal never saw Suji’t smiling face.
He stopped the bike on the gate of her building, she got down fast and was mumbling Thank you but he stopped her by holding her hand.
"Stop running from me Kajal. You need to face me some or the other day." He said it softly.
And that softness stopped her, she stood facing him. He had removed his helmet and there was something in his eyes she could not read. Loneliness, no it can’t be, that guy was married after all.
"Fine Sujit. I am not running, tell me what you wanted to ask." Kajal said in her most grown up voice and stood there. With her hand still in his hand she stood with as much dignity she had. He just smiled at her and turned her hand and kissed her palm lavishly. Kajal’s mouth hung open, she had never thought he would do this, and it would feel so good. She looked at him to found that the scum was smiling at her, her mouth was still open. He simply pulled her close and with the free hand closed her open mouth. Before she could run away and taking advantage of her shocked status he took hold of her other hand also.
"This is only a start what I want to do to you. Do you even have an idea what hell I had been through when you went?" Sujit told her in his most reasonable tone. "I agree we both were confused and awkward with each other, but you were my best friend. How could you just leave my life that way? You never thought about me, I needed you Kajal and you were not there."
There was pain in his voice which made her look up at his face, she saw the pain in his eyes also. How could she tell him that she had to leave or else there would have been no friendship. Distance was the only option, as she also didn’t want to hear that the kiss was a mistake. May be that’s why she went directly after the kiss happened, so he could not make excuses. She would not yield at the hurt and loneliness in his voice. She straightened herself and tried to sound like her mother when she is angry.
"Look Sujit, whatever happened that evening is history. You should concentrate on your wife and family. You think Neelam will like what you are doing right now? The reason I left is that I didn’t want come in between you and Neelam. I still don’t want to" Kajal finished and was little proud that she didn’t show her real emotion and it was delivered nicely. To her surprise {and disappointment}, Sujit had released her hands and his eyes were hard, too hard.
"I see, so this is what you think of me. What happened Kajal was that we kissed, you always seem to have another word for it. Accept it that we kissed and damn it I liked it, I liked it so much that I wanted to do it again and much more. Which made me guilty, and you would never know this as that night I had decided that passion was not important compared to my best friend. I was planning to tell you and make a joke about it, so we'll be comfortable again. But you just disappeared, I actually had to search and ask people to find out that you had relocated out of Mumbai. So the time we spent together was nothing to you.
What do you think, I was happy about the fact that I wanted to make love to my best friend who was too young for me and when I was MARRIED." Exhausted Sujit combed his hair in frustration and continued, "The reason I said I needed my friend was that, after you left I accepted it that it was for good that you left and was going to forget, no try to forget the kiss. As you were not there I spent days in guiltiness that I ruined our friendship but I had hoped that you might contact me. I also started making plans to talk to Neelam about starting the family. But one fine day, Neelam came and told me that she was in love with one of the pilots she worked with and she wanted a divorce." Sujit stopped to see Kajal’s reaction, which was as he had hoped.
"Yes, Kajal. We divorced and Neelam left me alone. And my friend was not there when I needed her. You were not there Kajal when I needed you the most and you hurt me more than Neelam. At least she told me the truth and left me unlike you, who never told me anything and just disappeared. So what do you think now Kajal about the kiss. Now there is no Neelam also, you want to run again from me? Think about what I said" After saying this Sujit put on his helmet and started the bike and drove off.
Kajal was still standing in shock trying to think so she never noticed a car coming and stopping at some distance. It would have shocked her more as Rutesh and Naina were in the car...........
