Individual Health Insurance in the US

For the majority people all over the world, the United States is the "modern promised land", country where all dream is realizable; they may be right. In fact, America is the country of "first"; first white country to elect a black president, first country in the world to develop nuclear weapons, etc. However, the health insurance system is not that good; more than 45 million Americans do not have health insurance, approximately 16% of the total population. According to the Census Bureau, there were about 13.2 million uninsured young adults in the US in 2007.

Besides about 200 000 people who die each year in hospital because of medical negligence and medical malpractice, there are thousands of people who die each year from lack of medical care. Although the uninsured individuals can go to hospital or a health care center, most of them always refuse to do so because they will then be billed directly, which could cost them a lifetime of debt. It is really depressive to receive and pay medical bills every month.

The medical costs in the United States are very high. Care received following an accident or a serious illness can cost you up to than 200 000 dollars. Certain therapies such as chemotherapy (cancer treatment) can double and even triple this amount. Without medical insurance, you will be unable to repay this debt if you are not one of the privileged ones who have millions in the bank. Faced with such risks, the important thing to do is be insured by a public or private insurance institution.

In the United States, health insurance is offered mostly by private insurers. The public authorities guarantee care only to elderly (Medicare) and disabled Americans or low-income Americans (Medicaid). If you are not in these two groups and are not qualified for coverage at your job, you are in trouble. It is estimated that less than 60% of Age-active people are covered by private medical insurance; 25% are covered by public insurance (Medicaid or Medicare), and 16% have no insurance. If you are in this last category, you greatly need to decide before an accident or illness strikes at your door.

These days, there are countless of health insurance companies. However, finding a good health assurance depends on several criteria that you need to know about: type of service you need, state of your health, age, etc. Knowing what you are looking for allows you to get health insurance coverage at a reasonable cost. Now, it is possible to compare insurance companies and prices on the internet. If you are in the market for a god health insurance company to cover you against disease and accidents, you need to visit careand.
