India Ready for 2-Front Simultaneous War: Pakistan Fumes

The Indian army has come out in the open and said that it is ready to fight a 2-front simultaneous war.
The Indian Army's military doctrine is reviewed every 5 years. This is done at the army's Shimla-based Training Command. Ok! So what is the big deal? Well, it is something that the new doctrine contains that has got everyone's attention. The doctrine includes scenarios such as a two-front simultaneous war with both China and Pakistan. Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor stated that India was capable of fighting a two-front war with Pakistan and China. He added that the Indian army, navy and the air force were effectively ready to simultaneously face Pakistan and China. This has irked Pakistan to a great extent. Pakistan has responded by saying that such a doctrine betrays a hostile intent and a jingoistic mindset.

Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said, "The Indian Army's new military doctrine betrays a hostile intent as well as a hegemonic and jingoistic mindset which is quite out of step with the realities of our time. Pakistan is prepared to defend itself in the face of all contingencies. No one should ever underestimate our capability and determination to foil any nefarious designs against the security of Pakistan. Pakistan remains mindful of the threats posed to its security as well as the importance of promoting peace in South Asia. The ball is in India's court for ensuring progress in resolving outstanding issues. Pakistan is not sparing efforts to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to book. The resolution of the Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions will usher in peace in the region and help improve relations between India and Pakistan. The meeting between the premiers of the two countries in Sharm el-Sheikh reflected good progress but India did not take the peace process forward." Abdul Basit then asked the world community to take serious note of such statements from India.

India accuses Pakistan of fostering militancy aimed at destabilizing India. India also accuses China of supplying weapons and nuclear technology to Pakistan. Pakistan accuses India of interfering in Pakistan through Afghanistan. Both China and Pakistan have a border problem with India. There has been 2 full-fledged wars India has fought with Pakistan and 1 with China. But those were in the 60s and 70s. A war between any of these countries now could have catastrophic effects on world peace and mankind. No denying that it could easily spiral into a World War. India and China have the largest armies in the world.
