In the Night
Poem about the mysteries that take place while we sleep.
Somewhere in the dead
Of night a lone wolf howls
At the moon an abandoned
Baby cries out for its mother
Somewhere above the trees
An owl screeches in
Frustration as the soft patter
Of a mouse's footsteps can
Be heard by the lonely
House cat locked outside
A panther screams in
Defeat as the leopard
Goes in for the kill the
Excited coyote
Howls in anticipation
Of the hun as the deer
Rounds and leaps to
Live another day
In the dead of night
The forest comes to
Life while the humans
Sleep sound in their beds
Of night a lone wolf howls
At the moon an abandoned
Baby cries out for its mother
Somewhere above the trees
An owl screeches in
Frustration as the soft patter
Of a mouse's footsteps can
Be heard by the lonely
House cat locked outside
A panther screams in
Defeat as the leopard
Goes in for the kill the
Excited coyote
Howls in anticipation
Of the hun as the deer
Rounds and leaps to
Live another day
In the dead of night
The forest comes to
Life while the humans
Sleep sound in their beds
