In the Night: Part 3
(Escape) - Everything comes into place. Please comment on this one, and the other parts.
Quickly, and panicky I opened my eyes looking at the recent change in venue. As in the dream everything was white; from the walls to my clothes. The dream I had only seconds before panicked me. I ran to the door, and started to bang on it. It opened with ease. Peering my head out of the door I saw similar people as to in the dream. Each person seemed to stare at me, it felt as if I were still deep in the depth of the alter reality of nightmarish proportions. Was I in a dream? That could be the only possibility. Could it? My brain hurt with all the things flooding it. I didn't know what to do, I ran. As I ran down the white people just stared at as if I were a freak show. "Stop staring at me." I screamed as I ran through the tangled maze of hallways I was in. Finally a way out, maybe even a way out to reality. Right as I was close enough, almost to feel the glass door. A barrier stopped me dead in my tracks. Two men, equal in size, and ferocity. Still I tried my hardest to break my way through, but was unsuccessful. Gripping me arm and arm they started to carry me off. Screaming, and kicking I tried to break lose. Finally they sat me down in a chair.
The room looked the same as the police room I was in not so long ago. "Where am I, I want to go home." I screamed at the cop that stayed behind. In a cold voice he stated "Cmh, and you can't go home till we ask a few questions. Don't you mean to say interrogate me first. What the hell does cmh mean." I screamed at the guy madly. "For one don't you use inappropriate language, and it stands for children's mental hospital." He said. "I'm in a nut house." I said "Now take me home." Now every word I said I screamed, each word filled with deadly poison. The guy tried to talk to me, but I drowned it all out with my own insufferable thinking. I tried to drown everything out, but it didn't work. Nobody believes me, all they do is accuse me. I was the only one who, but then I stopped right in the middle of my thought. I wasn't the only one who knew that there was a killer, and that he was out there. If only I could get to the girl, but these guys wouldn't let me out. I knew that every one last of these people think that I not only crazy, but a killer to. Then I got an idea, I was going to get. "Please take my back to my room." I said. The guy nodded in understanding. As we walked towards my room all I could think of was getting out.
I watched as a lady got my dinner tray, and slowly started to walk away. Several minutes later I heard a soft chime; this meant it was twelve o'clock. It also meant it was time to get out of here. Now usually the door would be locked, but I was smart. Right as the lady, who took the dinner tray, left. I got behind her. Taking the knife from dinner I wedged it between the door, and door jamb; leaving a small slit. Slowly I tried to open the door, it opened with ease. Putting my head through the door, I turned it to both sides to look for anything that could jeopardize my mission, but I saw nothing. I walked slowly through the hall trying not to case anything unnecessary.
The door was in my sights I was going to get out after all I thought to myself, but then as I got closer to the door my happiness plummeted to rock bottom. From the start of the door to about ten foot out, was nothing but red. By the looks of it they were security laser, probably to keep others out, or keep us in. That thought sent shivers up my numbing spine. I came so far, now only to fail. No, I was getting out no matter what. Then I thought of something. It was possible it would work, but I had to try. Walking into the bathroom I peered up into the ceiling. Yes. It was my way out. The air duct was going to be my way out no matter what. Well as long as there was an opening that leads outside. Standing on the narrow bathroom stall, I held myself up from propping my hands against the ceiling. After banging my hands against the duct cover a couple of times it finally opened. Gathering my strength I pulled myself up into the duct. Now the only thing that I'm worried about was the duct caving in. It was hotter up here then it was down on the ground. Slowly crawling along the duct I listened to every creak, and moan of the ever-changing duct. Finally I came to the end of my journey. The duct cover clinked to the ground as I kicked it in. now the only problem was getting down; the drop was about 9ft, probably more.
Closing my eyes I conquered my fear, I moved my way in the vent so that my feet faced the opening. Scooting backwards I started down the wall. Finally I was just hanging from my hands. The drop still scared me, but I had to do it. My heart was beating rapidly and quickly increased as I heard the drowning silence. They had figured out that I was gone. At least they hadn't figured out as soon as I thought they would. I was now or never, I jumped. As I hit the ground pain coursed through my body. Immediately getting to my feet I started to run. It started to rain; the road started to grow slick. Looking over my shoulder I watched as the guards started to chase me. They looked like prodding shadows; each one carried a grisly looking gun. I didn't want to know why they needed or wanted the guns for. Looking over to the side I jumped into a ditch. Then I took cover in a pipe; lying there I watched as the guards ran past. Crawling through the pipe I touched my hand down on something; blood smeared on the piece of glass protruding through my hand. Grasping my teeth I pulled my glass out. Closer up the pipe, laid a half-broken mirror. Picking it up I looked at my reflection. What I saw was not me. It was myself image, but it was stretched, and disordered. It was a mere image of what I once was, one dramatic change had happened; it had darkened.
Slowly I walked down the slippery black road; I had no idea of where I was. So I just kept my head down, and kept my attention to the yellow lines along the road. Every now and then the sky would open up, and cry, but shortly stop. Before I knew I discovered were I was. Had to be only 1 or 2 miles from my house. Maybe I could make it before the day was over. I started to walk a little faster, but I stopped dead in my tracks. Ahead I watched cops zooming up the road; the blue lights shining in the distance. Looking behind me I saw more cops coming towards me. Running was all I could do, or at least all I knew at that moment to do. Closer, and closer they got, until they right on me; it felt as if the walls were closing in on me. Every cop stop, but I still ran. The more I ran the closer I got to the other wall cops. Yet I didn't stop running. The cops ahead had flashlights, and guns drawn; each gun was pointing me. Where they going to shoot me if I didn't go easily? This was something I didn't want to think about. A loud voice boomed across the air "Sir you need medical attention. Just come with us, and if you don't we will shoot." One of the cops had said in a terrible serious voice. "Go ahead shoot me; do you really think I care? I screamed. "Just know I'm the only one that can find the real killer to all this mess." I didn't want to go, and I didn't want to die so I continued to run, but I changed directions. Turning I hopped the guard rail, and started crash my way to the bottom.
Rolling, and thrashing I was cast into darkness. My world went blank, the only thing I could feel was me hitting the bushes, and trees on the way down. Every time I hit something pain coursed through my body; biting at my nerves. Now the pain stayed, and just worsened with each hit. Still I kept rolling. Even though I've only been falling down the mountain for minutes, it felt like it was an eternity. Finally I stopped, coldness shot throughout my body. Opening my eyes I looked into darkness, I couldn't breathe; my lungs need air. Shooting upwards I gasped as I hit the top. Filling my lungs with air I started to breathe normally. Opening my eyes again I looked into the vast openness of nothing, but dark blue water.
The cold water felt soothing, but at the same time stung in my open wounds. My bones ached, and creaked with each stroke. The whole time lights filled the air, and the woods to the side of me. I wanted to stop swimming, I wanted to just give up, but I needed to redeem myself. I couldn't stop, I needed to push forward. With the sudden burst of audacity I swam faster. Finally the last light disappeared, and the sky turned dark. Swimming to the edge I waited for several long minutes, listening for something, but I heard the sweet sound of silence. Thinking of this reminded of a Simon, and Garfunkel song. Climbing up the bank I got onto the road, and started to walk down the black road.
Tiredly I came to the end of my journey. My legs ached from walking and now they yelling at me. I had to be walking for several hours. Stopping I sat behind a tree hiding myself in the shadows. I needed to think of a plan. As I sat there sleep started beckoning on me. Slowly my eyes started to close, but I couldn't sleep. I jolted right up, and started to walk up the road. I need to end this all, and I will. I have come this far I'm not giving up. Everything is coming into place. I was going to be able to finish this. Everything was going to back to normal.
I was almost there I could see the road to my house, but I would visit thereafter my current mission. With drawing grief I passed the road staring at my house. Walking up the road I watched as the house came into view. Staring at the house made me think of all I did tonight. Now it's all going to end. Again I walked towards the house, and slowly a smile whipped a cross my face. "No, no I started to say to myself which turned into a scream. I watched the house a shadow drawn across the back. The lights cut out, and a women's scream rang across the air.
The room looked the same as the police room I was in not so long ago. "Where am I, I want to go home." I screamed at the cop that stayed behind.
