In the Light of the Night 9

P.S. I’m submitting this story on Thursday but later in the evening so it probably won’t be on the site till Friday. Not my fault! I didn’t break my promise.

Chapter 9

The next time the light switched on had been on the verge of falling into an exhausted sleep. "Leave me alone," I moaned squinting into the bright light.

"You want to stay here? Well that’s the first time I’ve heard that," he chuckled.

"Bastard," I managed to mumble.

"I can’t be that bad. I was coming down here to get you so you could eat but if you dislike me that much…" my stomach growled at the thought of food.

"Maybe I’ll have just a little food." I tried to keep my voice level but I sounded way to egger.

Drake walked over and unchained my chains from the wall but chain my wrists together. To do so he had to lean over me, his chest brushing against me. I was suddenly very disappointed that this time he had worn a shirt. Then just as quickly mentally slapped myself, I shouldn’t be think that!

As he pulled back I noticed he looked…bigger? He defiantly looked bigger. Like he had grown several inches and bulked out. He was getting older.

"Are you aging?" I asked with disbelief.

"So you saw. I wondered when he would figure it out," he sounded terribly amused.

"But how? Vampires can’t get older! They stay forever young, the fountain of youth on legs!"

He was silent for a while as he stared out into space and I was about to ask again when he finally spoke, "After you chose your family over I didn’t see a point of going on. Losing your soul mate is the worst things that can happen to a vampire. So I wandered off into the middle of the forest and starved myself." I gasped at his admission. He tried to kill himself because off me? I was such a bitch on soo many levels.

"It turns out five vamps had a cabin in the middle of the forest and I stumbled on them by accident. They were asleep when I got there and I was crazy with thirst. I drank 4 vamps dry before I knew what I was doing. I had been draining the 5th vamp when the blood lust passed but I finished the vamp off anyway, he was already dying.

"So I drank 5 vampires, all at least 300 years old. The first thing Chaz asked me when I walked through the door to the house was ‘are you wearing heels?’ Apparently I had grown an inch and my shoulders had become broader. I figured it was the vamps so I kept on killing vampire, only the bad one, and now I look like a 23 year old."

We had been moving upstairs to what seemed like a dining room during our conversation. Drake sat me down on a chair to the right of him and he sat at the head of the rectangular table. In front of us was the most incredible thing I had ever seen.

Food.

It looked Italian because of all the spaghetti and garlic bread. My mouth began drooling like I dog and I’m sure I must have been staring at the food with lust in my eyes. My hands tried to move up to grab a fork but sharp pain in my wrists reminded me of the chain.

"How am I supposed to eat food that I can’t reach?" I was irritated as all hell and it showed in my voice.

A slow malicious smile spread across those amazing lips of his "With your mouth." I had guessed it would be something like that but I couldn’t help to ask.

"Are you serious?"

"Do I look like I’m laughing?" Yes.

I sigh, about to lean over when Drake interrupted me.

"Or I could feed you." No.

"I am not a child and I will not be treated like one!" My tone was furious.

"I never thought you were." The way his eyes raked over me gave proof to his words. My body felt his gaze like a physical touch and I burned wherever he looked. "I can satisfy more hungers than one." His husky voice gave me no doubt to what he was talking about.

I leaned forward determined to feel his lips on mine once again when the door to the dining room burst open.
