In the Light of the Night 11
Shopping, Drake, escape oh my! Comment!!!
None of you were right about my age. I’m 14 but I love that you guys think I’m older. I like my writing styles (reading styles as well) too be mature.
Chapter 11
"Red or purple?"
"Purple, it emphasizes your hair," I responded after looking over the dresses. Jessica had gotten me up in the morning, took one look at my tear stained face, red eyes, messy hair, and wrinkled clothes and decided that today we were going shopping. So far we had stopped at any clothes store known to mankind and a few entertainment stores to get some movies and music. I got a few books as well.
Personally I was ready to go home. I thought I had a lot of clothes at home but I’d bought so much I doubled what I had at home. Jessica got even more than me and was trying to push me into buying more.
"Can we go now?" I sounded like a whining kid.
"Not yet. I heard about this amazing store that’s only about 45 minutes from here. All the clothes they have are flown in from Paris. Top of the line," she sounded so excited about I almost agreed to let her take me but then I remembered my feet hurt like hell and shook my head.
"You already bought god knows how many clothes and probably have hundreds more at home. I think you can live without one more shirt in your closet," I don’t think my closet would be able to handle one more shirt and live to tell about it either.
"Actually the only clothes I own are my favorites or very old. Besides I’ll go through all of the clothes I just bought in about a month then I’ll have to go shopping again," she sounded so matter of fact about it that I had to think that through a few times before answering.
"A month? What do you do, just wear things once?"
"Yes. Unless I absolutely love it," my jaw dropped faster than a vampire could run and Jessica hastily explained "I give all my clothes to the poor, it’s one of the reasons why I wear things only once. Well and because when you’re as old as I am everything gets boring fast. Besides it’s not like I can’t afford it, I own Two Century’s clothing store."
I didn’t think my jaw could dropped any farther, I was wrong. Two Century’s is one of the most famous designer clothing stores in the world. It was probably the oldest too. "You own Two Century’s?" my voice was barely a squeak, "It costs like 250 dollars just to get a sock there!"
"I know. That’s why I can afford all of this," she said somewhat smugly.
"Whatever. I just know that I wear clothes for as long as I can and that I’ll never even wear half of these things. Now can we please go?" My feet were bruised permanently and my arms would never recover from carrying so many bags of clothes.
Jessica sighed looking very sad to be pulled away from her shopping spree, "If we must. Go to the car, I’ll be there after I check out my items."
That seemed too easy. "Promise you won’t buy or look at anything else," I commanded firmly.
Of course I got a lovely glare from Jessica as she mumbled I covered all of my bases to well. I couldn’t help but laugh at that.
As I walked away to the parking lot I realized now was the perfect chance to run. Once I got lost in the crowd she’d never be able to find me. Neither would Drake. For some reason the thought of never seeing Drake again made me hesitant to leave but that didn’t make sense. He was the enemy, the evil, the great kisser. Maybe that was it, I just hadn’t been with a guy in a while and my sex drive was kicking in. But that kiss felt like much more than just lust. It felt like love.
And that was what made me decide to escape. I couldn’t love Drake again; it would just lead to more heart break. As I broke into a run jumping around people and muttering useless apologies I wondered what life back home would be like. Would it just go back to normal? Would my men still trust me? What excuse would I use?
Finally I reached a door and pushed it out getting a blast of cold air in my face. My body broke into immediate shivers while my teeth chattered noisily inside my head. Have I ever mentioned I fucking hate the cold?
I only slowed when I hit the highway sticking my thumb out as I jogged down the side of the pavement. After about 5 minutes a Black Hummer H3 coated in mud pulled over hopefully to give me a ride. When I opened the door no over head light came on but I ignored that knowing Jessica was probably looking for me by now.
Damn. I shouldn’t have made her promise not to shop. "Th-th-thanks for-r the l-l-lift. Where you-u headin`?" I stuttered out through a clacking jaw as I pushed my hands against the heater to warm up.
"Did you really think you could run?" The familiar pissed off voice rang in my head.
"Just take me back to the house Drake," I grumbled while I tried to hold back tears of disappointment. All hopes of escaping left me and I sagged in defeat.
~short I know! so sorry!~
