Chapter 10

"Yo! Ally! You’re back. I knew it! I mean who in their right minds could resist my bro?" Chaz stood in the doorway to the dining room smiling like a giant teddy bear. At that moment I wanted to huge him like a giant teddy bear for interrupting the almost kiss. Drake on the other hand looked down right pissed but Chaz was too excited to notice.

How long Chaz stood in the doorway babbling I have no idea but every second it just seemed to make Drake madder. "Chaz, you might want to stop now," a woman’s voice came floating into the room and in the next second Jessica pushed past Chaz.

I smiled to myself as I remembered the last time I had seen them. "Drake shouldn’t you be taking those chains off of her they look extremely uncomfortable," Jessica remarked as she glanced at my raw wrists with worry. Worry that I didn’t deserve. I killed people like her, I probably killed a few vamps she knew.

"Jessica I can-"

"No buts!" she cut him off as she walked behind me "Give me the key and go get cleaned up, it looks like you haven’t showered in days." They glared at each other for a minute before Drake handed over the key (very reluctantly I might add) and left the room, Chaz following as he began to babble on once more.

A clicking sound and the feel of metal being removed from my skin had me swinging my gaze back to Jessica. "I’m sorry about how Drake has treated you. It was his way of dealing with things. Things have been pretty tough lately."

"How lately?" I couldn’t help asking even though I already knew the answer.

"Three years but it wasn’t all because of you."

"All because of me? So I was still part of it." she visibly grimaced.

"You crushed him Ally. He wasn’t expecting you to reject him, none of us were. Especially after how strong your bonding was, with the fainting and all that. A mate is a once and a life time thing and he felt he had already lost you to the vamp hunters. Personally I don’t have much of a grudge against them but most of the older vampires, like Drake, hate them with a passion. Of course Drake doesn’t hate them as much now.

"Anyway for him life without you wasn’t worth living so he tried to kill himself but as you can see it didn’t work. He then turned to killing as a way to deal with it. He completely withdrew from our family and we need him more than every right now. Knowing that made him even more depressed. I feared he was on the edge of going rogue but your return has, eh, made things…" she trailed off as if searching for a way to word what she wanted to say. "If you leave him again Ally we’ll lose him forever. He’ll go rogue, kill himself whatever he does we will lose him."

"But I can’t stay here! I’m a vampire hunter not a vampire whore! Or did you forget that?" I know I had forgotten for a moment, forgot that I was a vampire hunter, that I swore my life to destroying these deadly creatures, that I wasn’t seventeen anymore.

"Eat. You’re all skin and bone," Jessica spoke quietly and sadly while staring down at the table refusing to meet my eye. I stuffed all my questions to the back of my mind as my stomach demanded my attention.

You know how when you eat so much that you should be puking stuff back up but your still hunger? Well I hit that point about 3 plates of food ago. Either someone here can cook better than the gods or there is a really fancy, very expensive take out somewhere around here.

Finally I leaned back and placed my hands on my very full belly and belched loudly. I had defiantly been spending too much time with the guys. Jessica smirked obviously amused, "Come on, I’ll take you to your room." My eyebrows rose in question. Since when did I have a room? Unless she meant the dungeon thing. "I convinced Drake to give you a proper place to sleep and a proper meal when I arrived."

I was dumb-founded, she barely knew me and still she was tried to make me comfortable, welcome. "Uhm, thanks," I managed to stutter out.

Jessica led me up a staircase with a blood red rug with gold edges rolling down the marble staircase. The hallway at the top of the stairs had walls covered in a rich red paint with hand painted gold roses flowing across it. We walked silently up to a one of the many dark wooden doors and stepped inside.

The walls were black with the night sky painted across it. Stars, planets, moons, anything and anything. The bed had been fitted with a black lush comforter, a lack bed frame that raised to the ceiling and black see through-ish curtains tied to the bed poles. A window led to a beautiful view of a forest about 300 feet away from the house. The dressers and night tables were a deep brown that fit perfectly with the room. It was perfect.

"This is my room?" I squeaked being too excited to actually sound like a human being.

Jessica’s mouth tipped up into a smile "Yes. Drake said you would like it," the smile slowly turned into a frown as she went on "I think he made it for you actually even though you were out of his life he never forgot you, or got over you."

I could relate. I never had a day when I didn’t think about him. The truth is I never got over him and I doubted I ever would.

"There are some clothes in the dresser and closet that you’ll like but right now you should get some rest," Jessica informed me.

"That’s probably a good idea. I need to sleep off all this food."

"Ring the bell on the nightstand if you need anything. Night Ally." Jessica gave me a quick hug as I said my goodnight then left me to stand in my room wondering if I should sleep or worry.

Suddenly the door opened behind me and I turned around to see what Jessica had forgotten but froze in my tracts as I saw who it was. We started into each other’s eyes for a few heartbeats before he broke the contact to close the door.

"What did Jessica tell you about me?" Drake spoke so softly I could barely hear him.

"Why does it matter?" I asked suspicion laced into my tone.

"Do you love me?" his words caught me off guard more than that pimp had.

"What? No! You’re a vampire, I can’t love you. I don’t love you!" But I did.

Then he was there in front of me. "Well I love you and I’m not letting you go again. I’ve waited too long to have you in my life and I’m not going to wait any longer."

Any protest I might have had was stopped by his lips pressing against mine. I stilled hoping that he would leave if I didn’t respond but when he pushed he tongue past my lip I couldn’t help the moan that slipped out as I grabbed onto his shoulders. Desire pooled between my legs as I sucked franticly at his tongue. When he moved he lips to my throat I felt none of the alarm that I should have. A vampire was sucking on my neck for heavens sake.

He moved up to nip at my ear and the small sting made me remember even as it had me moaning his name. "No!" I pushed him back as hard as I could but only managed to send myself back a few feet.

"Ally-"

"No! Stop! Just get out!" Tears streamed freely down my face as confusion whirled within me.

He started walking towards me, "Ally please just calm-"

"Leave!!" My finally scream stopped him in his tracts. "Please," I whispered in a defeated tone.

Slowly he turned back to the door but pause once his hand was on the doorknob "This isn’t over Ally. It never will be." With those parting words he walked out the door while I sank onto my bed and cried myself to sleep.
