In The Arms Of A Soulmate - Chapter Three
I am the author of A Deadly Seduction, Welcome to America, The Best Of Both Worlds, a story without a name yet, In The Arms Of A Soulmate, The Life of Zoe King, and One Step At A Time. Yes, SEVEN!! All in process. Thanks JJ!
I am confused at how I used to get from 8 to 17 comments per chapter and now I am struggling to get 1! I really don't understand. I feel like my stories are not good now. I'm finding it hard to write more. Stick with one per chapter at least? I know I haven't even gotten that on some chapters.
Chapter Three
On the way home, Jason held my hand. I sighed and closed my eyes as I dosed off.
"Don't worry, everything is fine," Jane whispered in my ear. We were walking around the city's mall.
"How do you know? I just have this feeling that something is wrong."
"Jason loves you enough to not cheat on you, Melanie."
"God, I hope so," I said. We walked to the food court and took a table. I wasn't hungry, and neither was she; we just wanted somewhere to talk. "I don't know why I'm so paranoid. He's been amazing this whole time."
"Exactly. That's how you need to think."
"You're right." I sighed. "He would never cheat... on... me..." I looked behind Jane and I saw Jason with another girl. A tear slid down my cheek immediately.
Jane twisted to see what I was looking at. She gasped at what she saw.
And that's when I woke up. The car stopped at my house and I looked over at Jason. "What's wrong?" he asked, seeing the tear. He got out and walked over to me. When he opened the door, he wiped my tear with his thumb.
"I just had a bad dream that's all." I smiled emotionless. "Do you mind staying with me today? Not that you haven't done enough already, but..."
"It's not a problem, Mel. Here, let me help you out." I unbuckled my seat belt and took the hand he offered to me. Another tear slipped my eye unwillingly as I stood up. "Seriously, how bad was it?"
I didn't say anything as we walked to the house. I took the spare key from the plant next to the door. Once we took off our shoes and sat down on the couch, I turned to him. "My dream was that I caught you cheating on me. You were at the mall with some girl."
"Oh, honey." He grabbed me in a quick hug. "I would never..."
"I know." I was crying a little bit now.
He pulled back and looked at me. "You can trust me, Mel." I nodded slightly. "Do you want to watch a movie or take a nap or something?"
"Both of those sound good, actually." I laughed a little.
"Good. I'll pick out a movie for you and you can fall asleep any time you want to." He came back from our entertainment room with The Notebook. Jason knew it was my favorite. After he started the movie, he sat down next to me and put his arm around me. It was about halfway through the movie that I fell asleep. Right before I drifted off, I felt him kiss my forehead.
When I woke up, I was still in his arms. I caressed his face for a moment and then got up to check the time. It was three in the afternoon. I took Jason's hands and pulled him up. He woke up quickly. "Hey," he whispered.
"Hi, how was your nap? I think that's what you would call it."
"I was next to you. It couldn't be better."
I smiled. "You're such a sweet talker."
"I do what I do best." I laughed. I put my arms around his neck and kissed him.
"Oh, I must have bad breath from the nap," he whispered into my lips.
I smiled against him and whispered back, "I don't care."
We stayed in that moment for what seemed like an hour. I transformed our kiss into an intimate hug. "So, it's too late for lunch, but it's not dinner time. Would you like to eat whatever that combination would be with me? There's a small restaurant down the road."
"I'd love too. And I believe it would be either dinch or lunner. Pick your poison." He laughed and kissed my cheek.
I broke the hug and took his hand. "Well, it's close enough to walk and it's a semi-nice day."
"Well, then walk with me, baby," he said. Jason opened the door for me and we walked down to what was called Gio's Grill.
We walked down to the grill and got an outside table. For a moment after we sat down, we just looked at each other. It was a really nice moment. I love Jason for this. These moments occur frequently and it's really great to have that once in a while. The rest of my day was great, I must say. My mother said she wasn't going to be home so Jason stayed over. He let me re-watch the second half of The Notebook but all I could think about was how grateful I was. I had a boyfriend that I truly loved and I couldn't have asked for a better guy.
